Right, i've owned my '01 RSV-R 2 years now, never had any problems with it until 2 weeks ago! The bikes used as a commuter and has always started and run no problems. Left work the other day, pulled in the petrol station 10 mins down the road to fill up, went to leave and the bike wouldn't start. Left it 15-20 mins before calling the breakdown service, tried the starter again and it fired up no probs so off home i went. After some test runs, found that the bike won't start when its warm. So normal temp 70-80 degrees. Checked brushes on the starter motor, they're fine, battery tested which is fine, have just wired a new starter solenoid(yamaha part) as i thought this was the problem, but obviously not as i'm still having the same problem. When its warm, i press the starter, it doesn't turn over whatsoever, you can hear the fuel pump and a small clicking noise from what i think is a relay by the starter solenoid. Any help would be much appreciated!

Yep, its starts whether the stands up or down when its cold, doesnt start whether its up or down when the bikes warm.

Could really do with some help solving the problem, Have fitted a new rectifier, new 14amp battery, and yamaha starter solenoid in the last few days. Thought this had solved the problem but nope! Its still not starting when warmed up intermittently, if i let it cool for 15 mins then it starts. Also the fans are kicking in as normal at 96degrees. Doesn't usually reach that temp but i let it get that warm just to check the fans were working. Are there any sensors that could be faulty that could be causing the problem. Would the 'Air Temp Sensor' be causing the problem or immobiliser (Datatool Duo) that may be faulty somewhere. The bike has never had any accidents or any work done on it apart from servicing in the last two years.

And have tried seeing if its giving me a diagnostic code but nothing! I get a flash of 'EFI' when i turn the ignition on but it only stays on for a second or so.

For some reason, my bike starts whether the clutch is pulled in or not. Ive never touched the wiring for it. Do you mean are the breather pipes for the fuel tank clear? Come to think of it, when i left my bike out in the sun all day 2 weeks ago, the tank was hot to the touch being its in the matt black colour. Would this be causing some sort of pressure build-up?

Yeah you might have a trapped/ worn fuel pipe and mebbe you need a nee has cap gasket?. Water sits in fuel cap afyer a wash but should be holding it there
