Hello folks..I'm Ben..Retired and old enough to want a lighter machine to ride that is versatile enough that its mission isnt strictly limited to LD rides like I have with my ST1100... Its great for an hour or all day but trying to use it for local duties on a daily basis and I simply cant deal with 730# of extremely top heavy machinery..I wont tell you how many times I have dropped it..I lost alot of weight and I can no longer set the bike up on its centerstand anymore..I need assistance for that or else I just leave it on its sidestand...
I have seen and appreciated Aprilias' for a number of years. A good friend had the 1st year Tuono RSV factory..I rode with him many times. Our rides are always spirited and always memorable. Especially in the mountainous region of NC..N.GA..TN and SC....arguably some of the best motorcycle roads in the ccountry...Although I would still prefer to ride Colorado and other desert southwestern states as well....
So we have come to the Caponord 1200 Travel Pack...in Red of course...Wow..Its just beautiful and its love at first sight...That scares me because I have some concerns about the complexity of Italian engineering ...There is alot of high tech gadgetry..Coming from a 1993 ST1100 this will take some getting used to...so there is much un-certainty...
I am here to learn and determine how viabale is the possibility of acquiring one of my own. On paper I do like its physical traits...Twin cyls...125 hp..538# or so with a full tank...Ergos look quite neutral and upright...Not sure about how quirky the chain drive can be...I'm not keen on chains and sprockets...
I know one person who has a Capo1200 and they love theirs...so we'll see...I also need to explore the cost of ownership especially maintenence that supposedly use tools that are proprietary thus meaning a dealer must service it? Thus big bucks...
I'm sure there are ways to work arond those issues and save some money..I am retired so that doessnt mean i have big fat pension to buy a high end bike..Thats why i'm here...
