Hi all, hope you're all enjoying the spring/summer so far. I was advised to join this site as I'm looking for an SL1000 Falco and have found a nice one locally, only trouble is it's been left out for some of winter so a fair few of the fastners are corroded and would need replacing. Mechanically it seems good, full service history, spare race cans & chip. The guy doesn't want silly money, but I'm used to jap stuff (mainly Honda) I just fancy having a go at the whole Aprilia V-twin thing and need a bike my girlfriend can ride pillion on with no bother. This seems to tick most of the boxes, but any advice or tips would be gratefully received.
All the best
Dave

Welcome Dave.
We're more into RSVs on here but a lot of the same stuff applies so feel free to ask away, chances are someone will know. You'll find an Aprilia a bit different from a Jap bike but a lot more of a practical proposition than a Duke, servicing-wise. Just follow a few simple rules and you shouldn't have any trouble with it: Keep the battery in top shape/upgrade to a better one and on an Optimate; do some cheap mods such as replacing the starter solenoid for a Yamaha one and never, ever, touch the throttle when starting it (unless you've flooded it but that's another story). Just do a few searches on here and you'll find all you need.
