Regardless of what actually happened has he accepted liability for it? Either due to error on the dyno usage (which sounds much more likely) or riding it without permission?

Either way if it was me i would be taking my bike elseware to get it fixed and billing him for it. Why would you let this monkey 'repair' it for you. :dunno

I'm not lettin this monkey repair anything. Little1 recommended a guy at southern cross motorcycles who has agreed to fit a "new" engine for 400 max:thumbup so the search is now on to get an engine for 650 to 700 quid and get it to southern cross motorcycles................Then once it is done am gonna go to angelo's garage with 5 gallons of unleaded and a couple of lighters in the middle of the night and have myself a smallish bbq with a few "friends" and a couple of beers:biggrin Anyone fancy comin along?????????????? feel free to bring your camera's:eatcorn

Sorry to hear the news matey. Hope you can get something sorted either way and get your bike back on the road.

Spent 6 months in Cyprus doing the U.N gag. :puke

Whole place is full of feckin muppets so little surprise you've had problems. Wouldn't trust one of those :jack with a wheelbarrow let alone anything else.

In the absense of anything ( I imagine ) along the lines of Trading Standards over there, just sign a Gimpy out of the armoury and pay him a visit :devious :eatcorn. Maybe not, sure you're trying to get the hell outta there.

upddate

Guys, this is the situation as it stands now, i have bought an engine off flea-bay for £450, with 8,000 miles(mine was at 10 or 11,000) on it, the seller said he would deliver it to southern cross for me for.......... fook all:doug Don at southern cross has told me he will fit the engine for no more than £400:thumbup. I was speaking to little1uk and has VERY kindly offered to pick my bike up from the port when it arrives there in 2 to 3weeks and deliver that to southern cross:biggrin. Firstly i want to say a MASSIVE thankyou to ALL of you, i am a total stranger and yet you have offered me nothing but total support, its overwhelming. Secondly i want to publicly thank people like little1uk, don at southern cross and others who, without their help i would be up **** creek without a paddle:eek: And people call bikers the scourge of society, they want to look at the dregs of society we have managed to elect into the houses of parliament, who are forever trying to swindle the people of this country to further their own gains. (RANT OVER) This forum is fantastic i will never ever use anything else, keep up the top work, for people like me its invaluabe. REgards to you all, Ed:inlove

hi mate glad to read yer getting sorted that muppet mechanic looking at the damage photos it looks like the timing chain snapped cause the valves and piston are well battered whats the life of a timing chain anyway.Best of luck sarg with bike n all

is he a professional mechanic with a garage??? etc

if so you got no problems the judge will **** him over just for being in the motor trade

Guys, for my sins I am a warranty/insurance manager and I look at images such as this all day and can tell you now that the cause of this initially looks as though it was a fuelling problem.

The centre of the piston has been burnt through by an extremely lean mixture, directly in line with the centre spark plug port. (This would be the hottest point)

Don't suppose you have any images of the bore and a couple of the piston skirt? Was it just the one piston/bore affected?

More images would make it easier to determine what happened.

PS. If you want to make an official claim against this guy you will need an independent assessors written report on the actual cause of failure. I have contacts that will be able to assist you with the inspection, parts must be in the UK though. If you want any help in making this guy pay for the damage PM me and I will help you as best as I can.

:doug
