Hi all, just got finished thermo wraping my header and Y pipes. Really made a big difference in the heat comming up thru the faring from the engine. :thumbup

Im thinking of putting some of this around the rear pipe as my rear shock is cooking and the rear gets a little out of shape at times

Ditto. What is it, where do you get it and how much is it.

And does it work?

what is it and were do you get from
Its a exhaust heat wrap, I purchesed it from the local Checker automotive shop, its made by DEI (Design Engineering Inc.) www.DesignEngineering.com
A little pricey about $50.00 US. you dry wrap the pipes first to estamate length needed, allow for a little extra. then cut and soak in water to ease in wraping. Wrap tight and strap a start, than wrap overlaping 1/8" to end and strap. When finished, let dry then spray/paint and your ready to reinstall pipe/s... piece of cake.
I got the following items:
1) Motorcycle wrap, 1 roll 1" X 50'. part # 010101
2) 14" Stainless Steel locking ties, 4 per pack. part # 010202
3) Hi-Temp silicone coating (black) 1 can. part # 010301

What bike did you do it on? Reason I ask is your avatar doesn't look like the bike in the first pic

Woulden't think so, one roll is 50'. A must to soak the wrap first and pull it tight when wraping. only overlap each wrap 1/8". Should be enough.

Looks a really neat job..But look at that shock linkage, how do you keep them so clean..

Heat coming through the fairing is a good thing over here fella, but wrapping the rear header is a good idea to keep heat from the shock, as you can see i used a fine wire to bind mine as well, helps to keep it in place, buy from Demon Tweeks in the UK lads

Like Badger, I did my rear pipe where it runs close to the shock and also the part of the pipe close to the rear brake master cylinder.

Did you have to take the full exhaust system off back to the head to get this done?

That bike is the cleanest RSV I have ever seen. Do you ever ride it?

Ive gotta stick up for Badger here boys, one thing he does do is ride his bike come rain or shine, does alot of modding on em too :thumbup:thumbup

yeah badger certainly knows his stuff about milles!

though i think by the condition (and all the gorgeous parts) of that factory its his precious which never sees a drop of rain or wet roads, well if you had several bikes, you would keep the nicest in the best of conditions

could be wrong tho, he may just have miracle bucket soap and water to keep it sparkly clean inside out

Thanks for the comments peeps:biggrin

I can assure you it gets ridden, i have done approx. 55 K on Mille's, luv em to bit's:inlove, although the bike is clean it is not a showpiece, i like to keep them clean coz when you are cleaniong them you are also having a closer look at the bike and can spot any developing problems etc.

A clean bike is usually a well maintained bike as well, worth the time and effort IMO:biggrin
