Can any one help?

Booked a trackday wed (mallory park) got there in the morning went out for the first session came in and went to check my tyre preasures only to find somthing dripping from the belly pan had a look at it and oh ****!! oily water checked the rad top up tank and it was full of gunge oily water. i have had this problem before but only on cars. automaticly assumed it was the head gasket or a cracked head. Spoke to a mille expert (dealers in Blackburn) he recons that theres no way on earth it would be the gasket or head as the bike is an 03 and it only has 9k on the clock.

He recons its the water pump seal as it is dripping from a weep hole near the pump .

Anyone come across this before or can tell me where to start!!

The bike runs fine no lumps bumps. no ***** comming out of the can

Not had this on the Mille, however had exactly the same thing on the Sv.

Had to strip the pump down and replace the bearing and seals, don't think it's a major job on the Mille, wasn't on the Sv anyway more of a fiddly job really.

Trouble is not so much oily coolant, rather watery emulsified oil if it leaks that way.

I think that is what the external tell-tale is for,so you can catch the leak before it contaminates the oil.

I would do an oil change at the same time though, better safe than sorry.

Sounds like the oil seal in the water pump has failed/is failing not an uncommon occurance if various posts are to be believed.

There is a "blow out" hole for when this happens which is probably where you see this fluid coming from.

Head gasket

Thanks for the help fellas

Stripped the bike down today topped up the oil and ran it until it got upto temp the oily water is comming from the breather pipe for the expansion tank for the rads .I emptied all the coolant and drained the rads there only seemed to be a very small amount of oil in the coolant . i also dropped a little oil from the sump and it was clear as a bell?

Would you advise taking it in to get the seals changed or could i sort this myself ie any special tools required or preasure testing.
Thanks for the help fellas

My falco's leaking oil from the telltale hole & am just waiting for the seals to come in stock, not to bad a job,but would change both seals as a precaution
