Just been fitting my new c&s kit AFAM,to find the soft link ain't! Does nothing ever go right?.......
I have fitted hollow nosed soft links before to a few bikes in the past with no bother,i even have the correct rivetting tool for the job but it wont touch this one!!
I had to press the side plate on to the x ring chain with the tool and it took some doing, but now its level with all the others i feel i must do something to stop it coming off.
I called the supplier who stated it needed a v type rivetter? or i could try getting my lump hammer out on the back side of the sprocket and a ball pein on the front, which I tapped at for about 20 mins, its made little impression, any ideas? The link has no copper colour to it on the end and is flat not hollow, bleeding hard too! suppose i could push this one back out and order a did soft link 525,prefere not to though as this came with the AFAM kit, grease tube etc............:confused

i use a tool called a whale tool that you can get form B & C Express. It ain't cheap but does the job in seconds.

Cheers mate, found someone that has one, looks like you just hit it with a big hammer!
Bit worried about it bending my sprocket though, might try and put a bar to a brick wall behind it or something!

it's doesn't need to be hit that hard to peen the link edge over. A bit of wood behind it works for me and a good sharp wrap with the hammer
