I am in two minds here and I can't decide what to do.

I quite like the position of the standard sets and I like the fact that they are bulky and substantial.

I also like Gilles and the fact that it moves the rear master cylinder.

Can anyone comment on the benefits and improvements.

I did buy some acculign sets a while ago and while they were a fantastic piece of engineering they were too minimalistic for me.

Anyone offer any advice?

I'm only a newbie to the Mille scene ..But I do have a set of Gilles on my Busa

Beautiful engineering and finish on them with as much adjustment as you'll ever need ..

I haven't put any on the Ape - spent all my dosh on a new immobiliser ECU. Had some on my CBR1000RR, they are fantastic. You think you like the position of the standard ones, but once you have a play with other positions, I think you'll be persuadued otherwise. When I save a few bob, I'll be definately getting some!

I liked my gilles too.

As well as the brake improvement the gear change seemed smoother and more positive.

I ran mine 20mm back from standard and as well as reducing leg ache helped you brace yourself against sliding on the seat which i seemed to do a lot.

If spoonz likes em' then they must be alreet.

Are Gilles considered the best of what is out there?

they really make a lot of difference, so much nicer a feel with lots more grip when on the ball of your foot, i rate them highly, plus i have a superb rear brake into the bargain, i say :thumbup

Sorry mate . They don't make 'em anymore . :pirate

Google it .. Lots of savings to be had if you look around

I can't stand Gilles very pretty and plenty of adjustment with good Knurling but too flexi for me, I much prefer the Satos fitted with Diamond security pegs.
Depends what you want really.

to flexible:confused take it yer a big lad then:devious
No I weigh about 85kilos. I put a lot of weight through the pegs, Some friends of mine fitted a set to a ZX10r that they ran at the Le Man 24 hrs (Alf's Motorcycles) and came to the same conclusion as me never again, and that's being kind.:thumbup

I use the pegs a lot and put a shed load of pressure on them on quick chicane type corners and plenty of airborne antics over jumps etc. and can honestly say i have never ever felt mine flex in any way, but then i am only 13.5 stone kitted up, unlike the other pie eaters on here:thumbup

I can only go on my experience I hated them as did a few other people I know who've used them but then most people I met hate the 06 on R6 but I loved it.:dunno

Try Griffs Aprilia performance rear set, good quality & £200 ,give him a shout,I love mine ,standard position & a lot more comfortable than my Harris one's

Thank god we are all different or we would all be riding the same bikes dressed as wee clones:biggrin

Dinksy wouldn't be one of those would he. Although i think his last Le Mans was few years back when he smashed his heel.

Mick from Alf's sold me my first Rsv via Milge at Phil's Mc in Worcestor. Small world.

No Gilles Flex for me (15 stone in Gear.) That said a track rider would use his body weight a lot more than me on the road.
also bear in mind Gilles changed the peg design not that long ago. They don't taper at the end now.

No not Dinksy I don't think he's racing now, I do bump into him occasionally over at Golding Barn. Also we did all meet up at Brands a couple of years back and a F**ked foot doesn't seem to have slowed him down much he still seems to throw decent pool parties. I'm not sure but he did his foot a Bruno the brakes on the GSXR1000 failed.
Milge has shut up shop now sadly working as an engineer I belive I haven't seen him in years although I still hear from him occasionally nutter on a trackbike.:biggrin I got some excelent footage of him and me at Brands in 99.
Mick is still racing in the Hottrax endurance series with GBMoto they won the championship last year and won the recent race at Snetterton.
Do you know Sam his wife she was racing at snetterton too they won their class and came 5th overall not bad considering last year she was in hospital with a multiple compound fracture.
It was Mick I bought the Factory from he's been my two wheeled downfall it was him responsible for my taking up racing in the late 90s (now theres a surprise).:thumbup
It was Alf I was refering to, he now runs his own team with other riders in World Endurance. the year I was refering to was in 2006 when he was running when he was using the 06/07 ZX10r as well as the shop. Tracy moved to Aus about 18 months ago and sold his share in the shop to Alf.
Maybe Gilles are worth a look then, I still like my Satos though.
