Gen II fuel consumption

I have only just got my mine , and every ride has been a snatched afternoon thrash so far
My light comes on between 77 and 80

Mine was on 95 miles when I stuck it away on Sunday , light came on at 77 . so am 18 miles into reserve
As a fellow ex DD owner I have a 1.5ltr fuel bottle :banghead ,might fill it up at the weekend stick it in my back pack and see what the bike will do to empty

Forget the fuel light. It lies.
If you rag it...like, really rag it, it's good for 100miles give or take a few yards.

I guess the only way of really telling is to empty the tank, fill it till full, ride till fuel light comes on and then see how many litres it takes to fill it. I've heard they all differ. I start to look for fuel at 100 miles whether or not it's on

Thank BR you're the first person who has claimed poorer fuel consumption than me so quite glad to hear that it's not just me & my bike. Do you have a PC or not & what air filters, sprockets? Like you mentioned Bay being at least 17stone isnt going to help that much either. I know you guys on Gen 1's achieve better results which is why I was most keen to hear from gen 2 owners as we've had previous discussions before.

mick i always thought that a pc and custom map would give you better fuel consumption than without as the fueling is sorted proper all through the rev range and you said you had yours done by tony so i know he will have done it proper as it needs to be done twice on the v twins you have to do both cylinders but on the inline 4s you only do it once ive got a pc for mine but never fitted it as i wanted everything done to the bike before geting it maped by tony ie map 2, acras, 15/42 sprockets, open airbox, which i now have but dont know if i need to fit the pc or not as the bike is fine

I'm currently getting 33,5 Mpg (US).

15 tooth sprocket, Arrow stubbies and Map2.

I don't know the exact fuel range, but I know that if I fill her up immediately after the reserve light goes on, I can barely get 13 liters in...

Only filled up 3 times since i got the bike the light came on twice at 95 miles. Still on third tank which took 12.57 litres or 2.766 gallons aprox 6 miles later making it aprox 101 miles. That equates to 36.5 MPG and given the quoted capacity of 18 litres 144 miles will empty the tank. 15 tooth front 40 rear no idea what map it is on. Hope my maths are ok

Mines on 15 front sprocket standard rear, akro cans on map 2.
As I said I got it in dec and have only managed 3 proper outings and I have been high in revs riding my fav back roads ,no steady stuff at all
I was a bit shocked at getting the light on at 77 but as I go on longer rides I would imagine that the mpg will improve,
My ZX12R had 180bhp at the back wheel and was better on fuel than than this alkie ******* :lol

Not mentioning tank range Mick just that I start to look for fuel at a said mileage not when the light comes on. I always worry there's never going to be a station for 50 miles or summat

I start twitching about 1 hr after filling up especially on Sundays when rural station round my parts are closed.

Keep it on topic fuckers.....:lol

As a ******, and as weather is nice, ill **** of and burn some dinosaurs! :thumbup:thumbup

I am looking for second hand power commander to het dome bod to weaken mixture as can smell fumes.

Hey El L, whereabouts in Brizzle are you? Fancy hooking up for a ride when the the roads dry out?

Dunno mate. Started ripping me bathroom apart today (Rich fitted new ceiling today), so got a lot of work to do there, need to fit Samco hoses to the T, plus the missus is just out of hospital after a big op, so I need to be around really.

Not convinced I'll be out before the 7th April :thumbdown

Acro's, pcIII, custom map, quick shifter, KnN, 15/42.... Two up, chasing a vfr1200 (on private roads) at times touching 140ish the light came on@62miles! Normally around the late 70's when having 'fun' but I didn't buy my T for its economy :whoop

Like i say to my little one mate. i'm not annoyed at you just very disappointed ;).
