Just a quick survey about Gen 2 Fuel consumption so No Gen 1 replies please.
It many heve been noted that I am quite notorious for the poor fuel economy of my Gen II Tuono.

Took it easy first time out this year & achieved 87miles before fuel warning light came on.
Recent achievments are consistently 80 miles But wouldn't say I've reached my warm weather dry roads fully confident riding standards yet.
I run with 15-42 sprockets, after market cans & k&n air filter with power commander & custom maps. Am considering removing PC & going onto Map 2

What do you guys normally achieve from brim full to warning light with reasonably aggressive A/B road riding?? :tillis

Hard riding can be arund 80 before light comes on, did an economy run once and got 100. Done 35 with light on.
If you have a PC on, you should be on map 2 anyway.

100 best - 65-70 in snowing conditions picking it up!!!!

74 worst - "cummuting" and fast A road

there's loads of stuff here on fuel consumption & what to do, and lots of opnions...

sort breathing out, get fueling weakend by bloke/madam wot knows their stuff.

Or tame your wrist (so to speak)

I must ride really slow because I normally get 98 - 100 and 115 when trying hard to save fuel - tank brim full - to when light first comes on

Once the light is on I have manage 40 miles

Running 15 front sprocket standard 40 rear and Arrows cans

Best: 125 miles (taking it really steady touring).

Worst: 82 miles (Proper caning it).

Average: 100 miles (mix of caning it and steadier riding).

Gen 2, map 2, Mivv GP cans.

aint got a clue when its full its full when its empty i fill it up and have a big grin on my face inbetween

A did an early Sunday run 5.30 start to go ower the Lecht Road. Big mistake going that far north early on a Sunday.

Anyhoo it wis a bright morning but very cold for the time of year, so cold that a wis shiverin after an hour or so and the low sun wis shinin through the trees with that stroboscopic effect slowin us down even more.

Ma light came on at 118 and a ran dry a mile short of Grantown on Spey at 162.

Usually 80 miles b4 the light comes on. Reason I'm asking is cos I'm going for a service at Griffs next week & thinking about removing my power commander & just using map 2 as I currently have custom maps. I don't know that you'd notice the extra 3.5hp & 2 ftlb of torque. But an extra 10 miles or so before fuel stops may leave the anul sphincter a bit less twitchy at times. I ran out of fuel a couple of times on my Dorsoduro which was never fun. I suppose it might be wise to make a note of how much fuel I then replenish with as there's probably a guide to the tanks capacity somewhere. It could be that the tank is still nearly half full when the light comes on?

Both Gen1 & Gen2 are 4 Gallons aren't they? With 1 Gallon to go when light is on solidly.

Somebody mentioned 17 Litres before which is 3.74 Gallons?

STiX, if memory serves me right the gen 2 is an 18L tank split 15L and 3L reserve or 3.96 gallons split 3.3gallons and 0.66 gallon reserve.
not sure if the gen1 is the same!

following that model then 80 / 15 = 5.3miles per ltr so therefore = 16 miles on reserve b4 running out. That aint far when in the middle of nowhere.

If I follow Gilo's example & remove the PC as I think we're pretty similaar in riding style who gets 100 miles. = 6.6miles per ltr who will manage 20 miles b4 running out.

To complete the experiment we shall have to do a drag start time trial to see if the PC makes any diferance.
