hi guys got an 07 gen 2 1000r I've been experiencing the dash foging up and is driveing me mad have took it off and took it apart and drilled a few holes to help it vent but now worrying about moisture getting in any advice would be great last thing I want to do is replace them £££ thanks in advance guys

A lot of these bike had the clocks changed under warranty for fogging issues, tbh the replacement clocks were still prone to fogging as they were, I think the same part number. I never had mine done for the fear of getting a set that was worse than the ones I already had, I have a very small amount of fogging in the lower corner.

I few diy fixes have been tried with some success, a search on here and possibly AF1 forum may point you to a fix.

Mine mists up, I looked at the how to's on you tube and stuff, and decided not to bother, I don't trust myself enough to split the unit and re seal it. its a bit annoying sometimes, but It's not so bad that I can't see the speedo.

I did the fix on my gen2.
I emailed the Goretex factory in Livingston for some patches, they were helpful and obliged.
I took the clock apart as per instruction, drilled the holes and fitted the gortex patches.
The clocks still misted but not as badly as before and would usually clear after a few minutes of riding.
When you're parked up and it's sunny try not to leave the bike with the sun shining on the clock, if you can't cover them with your gloves or similar.

As Sheep said, it's not worth the expense and gamble that a replacement clock wouldn't mist.

Don't be disappointed if it isnae a 100% fix,,,,,,,,,,,,but touch wood it'll be an improvement,,,,,,,,well done mucker. :)

Hi Wacky 87,
I have a Tuono R MY 10 and up to now no problems with foging in the dasboard.

However, I own a Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V (bought in 2016 brandnew).
Guzzi belongs as Aprilia to Piaggio.

The dasbord from the Guzzi is coming from the same supplier as the Tuono one.
The Guzzi dashbord leaked within a year and droplets formed on the glass.
The dasboard was replaced with a new one under guarantee.

The bike was then in the garage in winter (winter in Austria means snow and fog) and moisture evidently penetrated through the ventilation hole

Since then I have chosen the following procedure:
  • With a hair dryer, I blow in a circular motion across the display until the drops dissolve back into the air
  • Then repeat this procedure every 15 minutes for a certain period of time
  • It causes the air to absorb the moisture again and the moisture to escape through the ventilation hole
Usually this works quite well, but you have to make sure that the display is not exposed to direct sunlight (as Aldo correctly pointed out)
You ride a bike with an excellent engine from Austria, which is indestructible, but a bike that was built with the typical Italian sloppiness.
You have to learn to accept the peculiarities of the italian diva

Happy New Year and always good grip under the front wheel for 2021
Ralf

My 2008 Gen 2 has done it since day one, comes n goes dependin on warmth n humidity. Surprisingly never does it when its pissin doon, jist the warm sunny days when its sittin idle. Dinnae believe theres a true 100% fix either bar a new dash, an thats a gamble. Its never bothered me as soon clears and 46k miles later is still goin strong
