Gearing Mod?

Hi guys I have heard that changing the gearing on the RSV's from standard to 15 in front and 42 on the rear sprocket gives the bike a boost in performance low down in the rev range.

My question is how much torque to you gain and how much of the top end is lost with this mod?

:dunno:dunno

Dunno the exact figures mate but it isn't half fun trying to keep the front end on the floor!!

Front sprockets costs about £20, well worth it in my books.

I reckon I lost around 25 - 30mph off the top end the effect of changing the gearing felt like I had an extra 10bhp and 30lbs/ft of torque.

Get one off Fleabay and go play. :doug

I have 15/43 0n mine and a few other mods, it tops out at 169mph, so nothing to worry about there then!!

You do not gain any more engine torque or power, all you are doing is making the engine pick up quicker due to lower gearing, if you stuck it on a dyno with standard gearing it would give the same readings as far as torque and power goes as it would with 15/42 or whatever else gearing you chose.:thumbup

Am same as badger, tops out at 168

Thanks for the info guys.
I have checked the link that you send.
I will work out which ratio is the best for my riding and when I change I am sure to give feedback.

Cheers
