Gearbox explosion

Stampy, are you having problems starting when hot ?? Do you have a V4 ?? Mine had that problem new battery and thicker leads was the answer [emoji106]
Yeah Mate, might investigate Motoelectric leads, my battery has been on an optimiser ever since I bought the bike new, might be an option though mate )

Sorry to hear the bad news on some of the newer models. Sounds like I should really enjoy my Gen1 and avoid any future upgrade, as they seem to be free of any of the bigger problems once the battery had been upgraded. Pity though, as I really like the Gen2 looks and V4 rocketship performance... and been dreaming...
Paul, I've had a Gen 1 and Gen 2 !!! Both stunning bikes never had any problems with either. The V4 is .....f#$king amazing, I kid you not, it falls in to corner really quickly, it'll pull yer arms off coming out of corners the quick shifters are a hoot .....but the gearbox apparently is made of cheese !!! The thing was Stampy, I could leave the bike for one -two weeks without starting it and it would fire 1st time but go 10 mins down the road and get it warm and she wouldn't start again !!!! I was very dubious when they said it was the battery but fingers crossed it's worked so far !!!

Barty,
- Good info.

I can understand why that seems puzzling, but seen others report the same on Gen1's. What I recon happens is battery is weak albeit with enough power to start engine first time. But a 10 min drives not long enough to replace power lost on 1st start, so battery even weaker on 2nd start. Hence enough power to turn engine but due to volts drop not enough to fire solenoid to spark plugs.

Cheers Paul great explanation slightly irrelevant to me at the moment .....with no gearbox or clutch !!! I wonder how the battery is doing ??

Mmmm, mine reads 12.7v at rest, 14.2 at Idle, so readings like that say the battery is healthy????? might chuck a new one in and try it anyway, thinking lithium Iron this time round.....Aint cheap!
Sorry to Hi-jack your thread Barty, Hope your gearbox gets sorted soon, before your summers over!!!!!

Great news Barty, but about bloody time!
Ultimately they'll be getting off light if they repair yours, by the sound of it they should recall all affected bikes and change them out.
