The bolts that hold the front of the tank didn't want to go back in today (after an air filter check) it was as though the tank needed to go further back to line up the holes; I managed, but I don't like forcing things. Any ideas?

if you can't wiggle the tank back enough then try slackening the bolt on the rear/bottom of the tank.

i.d pop it back again, if it wont go back easy, theres prob something stopping it, breather pipes etc..

just a thought.

I'm just doing that now, but I've noticed a disconnected bullet connector behind the right hand side panel, it has two white with green cables together at the rear and a single blue at the front (like I said, they appear to belong with each other but are not connected) any ideas?

It's behind the right hand side panel, alongside the battery, I've had a look at the circuit diagram and wonder if it's provided to disconnect if you have an immobiliser (I have) the cables both come out of the main loom (as if they come from the emu) they're the wrong colour for the immobiliser idea though.

yours genI or II?

assume I as can't see anything on mine, have got seat off and just looked through my rebuild pics and can't see anything??

Mines an '03 gen 1. You might not see it with just the seat off, if you can it'll be tucked in behind the side panel. in total there are four connector blocks here, a big one (routed outboard of the sub frame on mine) two little ones and the single that's disconnected. Thanks for your help by the way.

no worries, mine's a II.

don't know if it helps but the only empty plugs i've got are the two for the dealer plug in, both different types though.

Cheers anyway. Back to my original post, Thanks Garry and Bloke, I loosened the back bolt and the tank moved back (it's now pushing against the rubber "tails" that stick out of the battery box) tight but ok! Perhaps someone with a gen 1 will identify my mystery connector, its running fine so I'll leave it disconnected for now. Now check tyre pressures and ride!
