Picked up my 1 owner 10,000 mile Mille on Friday and didn't manage to get out till yesterday. Bloody fantastic bike, superb in every way . . .except one. Topped up the tank before I left, 16 odd quids worth, did around 95 miles, then the fuel light came on! Being new to the bike, I was hardly nailing it, just ran it around a few friends to show them, but this is around 30mpg! What on earth's it going to be when I start cane it? Is there something amiss or is this part of Mille ownership?:

I only can help you if we talk about liters per 100 kilometers:confused. My one does betwen 6-8 liters per 100kms.

Hi little1, it's an 1999 RSV (not R). I was looking for a Kwacker, but this one was in the showroom at a price I didn't think you could get a Mille for, was in super nick, and I just couldn't resist it. It's also got a problem with the battery not charging when the lights are on, but will be going back into the dealers tomorrow for that.
Hi Russo, I'll get my calculator out and see how your consumption relates to mine.
Shame everyone seems so far away, I'm down in Sussex.

Ok.Try with the caculator:biggrin .But I´m talking about going on normal speed on highway and few miles in city,if we talk about racing weekends so make it 10-12 ltrs per 100kms:devious

Russo, I've just worked out your first figure which comes to around 40 mpg which is fine and more or less what I expected. Your fuel consumption if you give it some welly is 23mpg which is frightening. My Porsche 911 did better than that!

mate thats not far at all we are always riding down that way aswell buddy .rsvr47 came from winchester to meet us ?change venue to suit always swap around:thumbup

its a brilliant bike, who cares how much juice it uses, just ride and fill it up!.
I see the red light at 80-90 when really gunning for it ( using the gears where all the fun is!.)
mpg questions are for the tour- meister bikes not sports bikes!!

But keep filling up every 90 - 100 miles is such a pain, and if you want to really take it for a decent ride, like to Spa or Nurburgring, seems like you spend half your time in garages.

Mate, few of us went for a blast yesterday, wot a larf, stopped for fuel 3 times then once more on the way home, but hey who cares :dunno If you want better fuel consumption you best go trade it in for that kwacker you saw, but you wont have this much fun on a four! :lol:lol:lol

I'm off to Nurburgring :devious in October, then onto Magny Cours for the WSBK's, will let how I get on and how many times I fill up buddy! :thumbup

carbon is right who cares how much it uses thats what the light is for smiles per miles thats what it is about you 'll see:thumbup:biggrin

we just came back from mugello, 1900 miles with fuel stops around the 100-110 mark, perfect chance for a break and a chin wag...and a chance to rest the butt muscles, a good mix of milles and ILjap4's and we all felt in need of a rest at about that point.
Perfect if you ask me! who gives a monkeys about the mileage or the cost! feel the torque, enjoy the ride, dont sweat the mileage per gallon/quart. american litre/whatever

OK, OK point taken! But, I'm still not convinced that there's not something amiss with the fuelling. Have spoken to some other guys today with Mille experience, and 30 does seem high when not caning it. Anyways, the bike's back in the dealers now having it's little charging aggro sorted. I just want it back so I can get out on it again! Can sort out the fuel consumption in due course. Pretty keen to join up with some of you bods, especially for any conti trips. This bikers hotel in Belgium sounds a hoot.

is that the groendijch bikers loft hotel in Oudenberg?
if so its well worth a trip./stay
Do you have a PC111 fitted...have you changed cans?, it does seem a tad thirsty, but each performance addition often equals more fuel consumed.

I think fuel consumption does vary with mods and riding style even as to how fat a ******* you are :) discussing fuel consumption with a 03RSV owner at a local meet compared to my 00RSVR was scary. his is standard mine has PC and akro can. He got 90 miles before the fuel light flashes at him and i get to around the 110 mark maybe more so i would assume he rides his harder than I do mine. Vtwins are known for their economic fuel burn though so one would assume for their power/weight/output ratio Jappers are far worse!! they just don't admit it or talk about it

what suprised me was for long autobahn thrashes (like 140-160 for an hour or so, the fuel return was not bad atall, its when you dance on the gear lever and ring its neck that the juice really dries up

Think we've sussed the bad fuel cons. Evidently, the previous owner had a can on it and removed it before sale. Quite likely that he chipped it to get more fuel in for the better breathing, but left it as it was when hee took the can off. This would explain the poor low rev power too. Thanks all for the interest; I'm now hooked!

Hi Carbon what's a PC111? And no, it seems bog stock - but see message above, but I think it's been chipped to go with a can.
