Aha, day 1 and I'm at it again :megaphone

I'm going to get me a front paddock stand to use with my '04 RSV, for wheel/tyre changing (not planning on having the forks out...touch wood). So, despite the old adage of "buy cheap, buy twice" is there a downside to the sub-£30 front stands?

Also, I've seen threads on batteries and starter relays. I suspect my battery has seen better days, the preference seems to be for the heavier duty YTS-14BS (or something like that). Is that a straight swap or are any modifications required? Does the relay issue affect my '04 model?

your pearls of wisdom much appreciated :bigsmile

Cheaper front stands are not usually a problem. i have a Harris one which wasn't cheap and it was rubbish. Got a cheap one at NEC which is better.

The post 04 bikes do have a better charging system than the earlier bikes so provided the batt is kept in good shape and your elecrics are fine the stock batt and solenoid is fine. If your batt is shot then maybe an upgrade is worthwhile but check the batt dimensions as i think the 14amp/h maybe too tall without modding but not 100% sure.

If the bike is alarmed get an optimate.

Ah, thanks for that as I had the Harris in the "Snap-on-Tools" category, ie would do the job as well as anything, has the name, but has a higher price to go with it. The cheap ones I see have two rubber covered pins either side that the fork lowers sit onto; is that the type you're using? No alarm, but it has been Datatagged and I am debating whether to get that changed to my name - is the Datatag any kind of deterrent these days?
