Any ideas fellow enthusiasts,

09 tuono factory.
I was having a lovely ride home tonight, just steady away, even taking in some scenery. I knocked the bike down a gear, from third to second, as it went into gear the engine just cut out, the display on the clocks stayed on, but no warning lights on. I turned the ignition off, then back on again, hit the start button and she fired straight up again, and continued on home, fault free for ten more miles or so.
Maybe just a one off, but now just waiting for the inevitable.

First thing I would do is check the side stand cut off switch for crap/crud

There was a chap over on RSVR.net who had a similar prob and it was a single pin pulling out of a connector block for one of the handlbar controls....will see if I can find the thread

This is the lad I mentioned....Eugene Quigley
hey lads, just to let any one know who may have this prob, my 05 rsvr let me down on a run, displated ERR in temp, showed stand light, and rev light on steady, breakdown on CAN to ECU!! two days searching, i found that turning steering fully to right killed it and brought on the display, but turning fully left it sorted itself!! took off infill under clutch lever, took out all the connections, checked through them and came to the six pin block connecter(white) it had the greenish colour and 1 pin had pulled back out from the block! WD40 clean up an pin back in an running since.
test run to make sure tho!
Patience pays i guess... see how goes.

Had a good poke about, and clean up, but nothing obvious. I am thinking the alarm, it has a data tool red top on it, and it has false alarmed a couple of times recently through the night. Time to make sure my breakdown cover is upto date!!

I had a similar problem on my 09 changing down and it would just cut out, locked the back wheel going into a roundabout and gave me a bit of a moment!!!!!

Turned out to be the vacuum pipes on the throttle bodies, they are thin rubber hoses, they get brittle where they connect to the brass spigot and mine had split lengthways ( looked fine until you pulled on them and they just fell to bits, I replaced mine with some silicone hose from a model shop and it was instantly transformed, smooth, responsive and running like a train.....

Might be worth checking before you spend any money,
