Howdy,
I recently purchased a ‘09 1000 R that has been ridden less than 500 miles in the last two years. I rode it about 50 miles the other day and it was fine except the battery was weak. I Installed a new yuasa factory spec battery this evening and it fired right up. I let it run for about three minutes and then went to reset the clock while It was running using the function button on the left hand handlebar and the bike died as
Soon as I hit the button. I tried restarting it multiple times nothing. Went through the fuses nothing. Then decided to check the connector going from the alternator down to the rectifier and noticed that it was full of dielectric compound which is normal ? I put the connecters back together and the bike fired right back up. I turned it off and it started again. I then waited about 20 minutes and tried starting it again, nothing. Fooled around with the connector nothing. Before I start tearing this thing apart any and all advice is welcome. Thanks
