Error light issue. Any thoughts?

Only had the bike (2004 1000R with akrapovics) a wee time and have discovered an interesting fault.
Turn the ignition on and all the instruments come on or wizz about until after a few seconds they go out and I start it. But, quite often the error light stays on - even after it's started - though with no other warning light. The error light doesn't do this if I immediately turn the ignition off and then re-start.
Once running the bike goes sweet as a nut - if you can say that about a V twin.
PS Brilliant bike and makes a great mate for my BM GS. :confused

If you mean the red light with the key in the middle it's a sign of maybe pending Immobilisor issues.

They are prone to water ingress and poor conections in and around the immobilisor ecu. You should only ever see the red light once the key is in if it rejects the key or the ecu is not programmed.

Thanks for this but that's not the one. Its the triangle indicator just before the figure 1 on the rev counter.

The red triangle is a warning light usually to say the ecu has received a fault code notification.
Usually accompanied by efi or the oil symbol but not always.
You could ask a dealer to check for codes on the axone next time it's there.

Big thanks to the forum.

Guys, thanks for all the advice that exists here.
I'm a new RSV1000R owner still getting used to my new (2004) pet.
After reading various posts here I've;
a) done the 'neutral' fix. And it works
b) done the back brake heat shield fix - though not without experiencing a little learning curve over adjusting the back brake correctly
c) sorted a problem with the warning triangle staying on. Basically after a little searching and experimentation I concluded the fault was with the oil pressure switch. It was and a new switch has all my instruments working as they should.
Just about to go for a thrash and it's started pis*ing down. Well if the MotoGP boys can race in the wet so can I .............. on second thoughts!
PS Bought my bits from 'Speedaway'. Very impressed with their stock level, next day delivery and price.
