I personally like riding a bike raw with no electronic safety net. Is that really so crazy? I am getting told so, over, and over again...

Nothing against them, just prefer a bike without, the master of the beast I guess. Been having a massive debate with a guy who basically cant accept that is my opinion, and live and let live. its getting very old now, its like talking to a kid in a playground backed up by all his little mates!

Whats your views on the subject?

I guess he cant ride old bikes then,he sounds like a fanny to me...

i think these gadgets are amazing but do they take some skill out of riding a bike to or near its limits ?

if you can jump on a bike a ride it reasonably fast with all these on ..traction control, anti wheelie, abs etc etc theres going to be a time when you ride a bike without them and realise what a crutch they have been..take away a crutch and you'll fall over

i have had the mille spin up on me , slide, wheelie, lock -up/skid but never crashed but these arent the most powerful bikes out there and may be thats the real reason for them ..our bikes dont really need the gadgets.where as a ballistic bmw/rsv4 etc does

as for the other guy say maybe i'm a more skillful rider and you aren't ...should start another row

good responses thanks guys. This guy is very used to being told he's right i think. I'm just checkin i haven't gone nuts! I said alot of people will buy it for pub ammo. But that a bike without aid's isn't an inferior machine. Its just a different choice. Else why would honda offer abs as an option?? Did i mention he's a site manager? Sigh. Think i may stop posting there too much self loving goin on! Its nothing like this forum ; )

I'm a site manager, on a building site :biggrin:biggrin
My other bike is a 21 year old RD350 hybrid, that hasn't got any electronic aids :roll & if we don't go on dual carrigeways I still leave the others behind, in fact I recon I can ride that faster than the ape :confused
The blokes a ****, proberbly rides a GS

i've never rode a bike with them so dont know the difference had the millie spin its wheel a few times and it does make you feel alive

I`ll show the whole thread if you got a cuppa in hand and a spare like 40mins! Its nice to there are some like minded people here at least and I`m not alone in this world! Guess I`m in the right place at last!

The link is for page two, where i first have the audacity to comment! :O
I`m leanittiluloseit (lol)
And the bloke who dont like opinions is Legzr1.
Its still an interesting debate, and debates always make you get to the root of why you think as you do and make the choices you make. I always try to understand the other side, and dont actually disagree with most of what he says, just have a different choice. If i wanted safety i`d buy a car, not a GSXR1000! If you can only afford one vehicle, why buy a new 10k plus bike....
Draw your own conclusions

hahaha, The link started on page 2! I dont blame you! but cant spoil it for you! And its not my place to say.
I was just voicing an opinion. And was interested to see what you guys made of it all :)

I'm def in the no aids camp mate

Id love to see more racing series's reducing the tech on the bikes and get back to who is the best rider rather than who has the best tech and utilises it better, but then that's also a big skill.

But id always be routing for the rider that rides a bare bones bike,to me it's what riding is all about if Im pushing too hard I like the bike to give me the wake up and back to reality kick up the arse.

but that's just my opinion.

Im a site manager too!! for one of the UKs largest Civils and Rail companies, but i still dont like electricity type stuff. a battery a spark and fuel and one almighty throttle thats what you need dude.

I've only ridden a zx10r with electronic aids, I didn't know if it was working or not?

The problem I would have with these 'electronic gimmicks' is relying on them,

You only have to look at that clip of jorge lorenzo when he turned his TC off to practice a race start, then tried to go round the first corner he got to and ******* high sided! says it all really.

I'm sure they work wonders, but Im no racer and dont intend to be, just want to ENJOY riding my bike, weather its a clapped out banger RSV or the latest and greatest crotch rocket to hit the showrooms, if its not fun, what the **** is the point?

Exactly my thoughts.

Everyone who is so pro-electrics says you have to learn to trust them.
Id rather assume i`m responsible for my input thanks

Entertaining debate. Until your opponent resorted to telling you to **** off anyway.

And surely the correct answer is 'whichever pleases you most?'

I haven't got, or want, TC or ABS. Or any other electronic aid other than the ignition key for that matter. Never felt the need for them though I'm pretty sure ABS would have dug me out of a hole on at least one occassion. However, I am in the camp that feels that bikes are dangerous by design and part of the 'fun' of riding them is managing that inherent risk. Look at the standard of car driving on the roads as cars have become safer to see where I'm going with this. Will bike riding get progressively worse as more aids that find their way onto them? Isn't this called something? Risk something or other? Basically the trend for people to take more risks to get the same buzz due to the activity being inherently safer?

Anyway I digress. I felt that you put some decent arguments across and, on the whole, found myself agreeing with you. I also felt that Legzr1 had some valid points but that his style was patronising and a little high and mighty. And then he started in with the obscenities which, according to my Nan, are the last resort of the stupid.:biggrin

to be honest steve why am i not surprised to see a link for sbf.... and even more so Legzr1 being mentioned!! :roll

end of the day, the only traction control i need is my right hand & wrist whilst riding, & would say thankyou for legz all singing & dancing, gizmos galore Beemer s1000r

I dont know, why are you not surprised mate lol?
