Hi all
new stator and reg/rec fitted but bike wont start although it will fire every now and then.
disconnect the reg/rec any side and the bike fires up fine....... any ideas???????

Sounds like a wires crossed somewhere or not earthed correctly so when its connected up its dragging the battery voltage down

But it starts and runs fine on the battery alone, its only if the charging system is hooked up it refuses to fire.

Yep that's what I was meaning, you say a new reg/rec and stator were fitted, so it has to be one of these components that when hooked up to the battery its dragging the voltage down as when they are not the bike starts fine on battery power. Are these original spec components, did you have to wire any connectors when fitting it up. Something is crossed or not earthed correctly in the wiring/mounting of the new parts or one of them is not compatible with the mille is my bet.

I have just done a test of the new stator and it passed the resustance test all phases about 0.8Ohms but testing the voltage accross the three phases i cant get a steady reading and the values jump all over the place.
buggered stator methinks.

Could possibly be mate was it a new part you put on? Resistance readings look good though voltage between the wires should be a steady 60 volts ish still sounds like there is a bad earth or something not matched up right as if the voltage output has no reference point if you get me.
