EFI warning, not starting....HELP

I've got a problem with my 04 RSVR which i could do with some help or guidance on. Having just fully charged the battery last night, I reconnected it and tried to start the bike this morning but with no luck. Instead I get the bike trying to turn over but not taking.

I did manage to get it to fire and rev for a bit by giving it a good fist full of revs when pushing the starter button but as soon as I let go of the accelerator it died.

Putting it into Diagnostic mode it shows the error code P14...but from searching here that seems to be a spurios error.

I've taken the connector's apart cleaned and put back but that didn't help. but still no luck...

Didn't upset the tip over switch when you fiddled with the batt did you ?

If not try Unplugging the atmos sensor to left of batt and trying with it disconnected.

Dont try and start the bike with the battery flat of give full throttle on startup.
search for Sprag failure for more info.

Well unplugging the atmos sensor made no difference. Tried cleaning and spraying any connectors I had missed, and now when I try to start I get an efi code 0.

Any more sugestions?

If it was an imobiliser issue would it cause similar symptoms?

Cant find a diagnostic connector under the seat, on the 04 model you holf in the Lap switch for 15+ seconds when you turn the ignition on to show the error code, unless I've missed something or mis understood you.

Don't think it's going to be immob related.

Does the fuel pump prime for a few seconds when you turn on the ignition ?

Does the efi come on a soon as you turn on the ignition or after a few secs or only when you hit the starter ?

Yes your correct about the diag setting being by button.

Have just tried again this morning, to check the fuel pump and it primes when i turn the ignition on.

Tried something slightly different this time and put it into diagnostics mode before trying to turn it on rather than checking the code after.

This time it comes up with a code 33 which is "Ignition signal 1 not present"

Try switching the coils and see if the fault changes cylinder

not sure i follow....as i though there was only one ignition coil, or do you mean swaping the leads from the front and back cylinder?

Yes your right you have a coil pack, i was forgetting the bike was post 04.

No don't swap leads between cylinders.

the likely candidates for your error is either coil pack or ecu or connections in between so have a good look around for any corrosion etc.

Try removing batt power again and reconnect after a few mins +ve lead first as the early ecu's can have a funny 5 mins if spiked.

Have checked the connections to the coild and ECU and found that a pin on the ecu was bent, so I straightened it (Very Gently soas not to snap) reconected and tried to run it.

This time i now get a code 0 when in diag mode....

It begining to hack me off, and wondering if i should just take it to a dealer.

code 0 means no faults found

I'm having a very similar prob, did you ever get to the bottom of it, if so what was it?:confused
