If I'm correct, the ones I have purchased haven't got the rough bit at the edges, because I don't like the look of that. Trouble here is, I brought them off Egay, and I haven't even seen then...I must be getting more ******* stupid than ever..Should be picking bike up tomorrow..I hope I haven't made a **** up.:no

I'm no tyre snob but someone told me once buy the best ones you can afford as it's only those between you and the Tarmac. I had a set of maxxis on one of my previous bikes and I had a few slips on them. They were the worse tyres I've ever had on a bike in my opinion. I didn't like the set I had on mine they were uber ****

£40.00 a tyre cheaper & £100.00 a pair can't be sniffed at. Certainly worth giving a go & trying!!

Just called the garage who's fitting my tyres, Smooth all the way to the edge. They are the latest from maxxis. I will not be getting my bike back tomorrow :bawling, and its going to be good weather this weekend. When I do I will post a pic of tyres.

Never mind the pic, get it scrubbed in & then give it some beans, then tell us what yer think.

Better luck with them than the ones I had. I was on a country road and had a big slip on the set I had on mine on dry roads so might have been a bit of dust or muc on the road. Rear slipped about 2ft or more at about 50 mph and I ended up on the opposite side of the road with no cars coming the opposite way luckily. That was the biggest slip I had but on the day I sold the bike and took it to Bristol to pick up the new one the front tyre slipped on wet road as I was pulling out of Macdonalds after meeting a mate and I had to put a foot down to save the bike going over.

Never had any other issues with other tyres like those. It kinda put me off the brand for life

Bet it did Bay but progress is progress. I watched a progrmme the other day about when they were developing the hawker Harrier jump jet & you should have seen some of the early scares they had. Turned outb to be a superior aircraft than the French Mirages in the Falklands and are still being manufactured ane are in service today all over the world.

Tricky they've been decommissioned in this country like maxxis should lol.
Ps no they didn't have the rough edge they were on a Suzuki gsxr 1000 and they were proper sports ones. Perhaps I just wasn't riding it fast enough to get them up to temperature.

Read in a magazine once that best tyres for road riding are the sports touring ones as they get up to temperature quicker which is better for normal road riding

Good reviews there Stix. Video was prettyy compelling evidence about how good they are lean angles were pretty extreme. If I did a lot of commuting & daily riding I'd try them, would even consider at next change if I hadn't just stuck a new sportsmart on the front that's barely run in. Reckon 6000miles thats good going but then I also read a review on Roadsmarts getting 11K on a Z750 I only managed 3K on the T. Don't understand how I do it. (or don't as the case may be. I don't consider myself to be too extreme with the right hand & always warm my tyres up for the first 20 miles.)

I agree Mick, there's one section where he has an extreme lean into a left-hander. I can only dream of such angles!!

You only got 3k out of a rear Roadsmart? I was thinking of Roadsmarts for my next set - not so sure now.

Then again you get about 70 miles to a tank and I get 130......;)

I think sometimes we read too much. I once remember reading a group tyre report in one of the mags, probably bike where all the top tyres were tested and decided to get the winning tyre fitted to my ZX9. Now I did get a shock exiting a damp roundabout when it went sideways.Got home and inspected the tyre was through to the canvass after 600miles. switchewd to Bridgestone BT20's after that and used them & 21's for years. Until switching to Dulop's. But as with all tyres you do have to warm them up as they will give when cold. Did you here about Rossis claims when he high sided last year or the year before were because it was a predominantky left handed circuit the high side happened when he switched over for a right hander and the tyre gave way. & What about Simoncelli he had a few cold tyre mishaps. RIP.

I nearly lost the front a while ago momentarily on a roundabout. Cold tyres, cold road. Wasn't even that quick. Bit of a bum clencher.

Every time people mention Simoncelli it gets me down. Liked seeing him ride. He'll be missed in this years Moto GP. It'll be a while until another guy like him comes through

I had a bum clincher on a roundabout on warm tyres cos I hit some gravel with the front wheel while. It stepped out what seemed miles and then gripped again

I can definitely tell you it wasn't 2'' as I went around the roundabout abterwards to check what I'd slipped on and there was a big scratch on the road. It was when they were resurfacing the roads last year and dropped some chippings on the road.

When I was reading through your Maxxis reviews I clicked on tHE rOADSMART links. Some bloke recconed he got 11,000 on a roadsmart on a GSXR 750. so don't let me put you off. I would like to get a few more miles oyut of my next rear current prevailing personal circumstances. Who knows might get maore than 70 to a tank with a little moderation. Though I do think i's more down to tyhe custom maps. I do occasionally take it easy & don't seem able to squeeze much more out. I'll tell you l;ater cos I'm deffo going out now to try out my new HD Video camera as it's a lovely sunny day.

Sometimes you just don’t like a certain tyre ,every one raved about bt020 but I hated the damn things only set of tyres I have ever had both tyres slide together
