early rsv rear shock

ive put a deposit down on my bike from the local dealer, overall the bike is near perfect condition, i did notice looking through the service history that the rear suspention had been replaced, with a soursed part (secondhand) the dealer is giving me a warrantee and it felt ok.

i just noticed that the 2003 ones have a yellow spring on the rear... and im sure this one on the bike im getting is white.

think sachs is what should be on a 2003, should i be worried if its something different? or could it be of a earlyer model?

White spring early pre 2001 bikes, yellow spring 2001 to 2003 bikes. The shock is different as is the linkage. The Sachs shock with yellow spring should be on your 03 bike. The linkages and shocks are not interchangable with each other but can be replaced as a unit, though this gives a different linkage to shock ratio. Why has it got the early white spring on? Is there an invoice to say what's been changed and why as it's very rare for the sachs shock to fail or has the spring just been changed?

All ohlins shocks have yellow springs as std

there is an invoice, but its just to say a replacement used shock was put on there as a fault occured with the orignal one,

there could be a possability that the shock on there now is another make that fits ok, aftermarket one?

it was a while ago now when i viewed the bike, i think i remember the body of the rear shock being silver and the spring being white, i dont want to call the shop just yet as they will bug me to come pick it up, they are holding it for me at the mo as i need to sell my bike.

by the sound of the above post tho it cant be an early rsv one as the different fitment?

It could very well be an early RSV one yes, as long as the linkage for the early shock was fitted too, as i've said they are not really inter changeable with each other. The white spring is harder than the yellow spring.
