Hi,

Question on the Tuono Gen 2 dog bone.

I’ve recently picked up a very clean 2010 Tuono with 9000 miles. Its obviously been meticulously looked after but the shop couldn’t tell me for certain if any maintenance had ever been carried out on the linkage, so I’ll presume it hasn’t. Although it seems to me to be operating perfectly and rides well with no issue.

After reading up on the dog bone issue on the Tuono, and as I’m not competent nor confident enough to tackle this maintenance myself, I’ve ordered a racetorx kit which comes with
x1 Racetorx Uprated shock linkage dogbone
x2 Titanium Grade 5 Bushes
x4 2012 Drawn Cup Needle Bearing (SKF)
x4 20x26x4 Metric Oil Seal

Some chats also recommend upgrading the triangular side plates too? Is the kit above enough to solve the problem or should I order new triangle plates, or anything else for that matter?

Thanks,
Scoob.

The problem with the dog bone is a lack of grease from the factory..... and a regular strip / grease is required as they dry out due to heat from the zorst
Bearings dry out and seize, which can cause the dog bone to crack.
You will still need to strip and grease your new one on a regular basis.
From what I've seen... if a side plate fails.... it's due to a bearing seizing..... just inspect everything each time you strip it down.
Oh.... don't forget when you fit this.... check the bearing on the swing arm connection of the triangle.
This job is a lot easier if you have an abba stand..... as you can't use a regular paddock stand.....

Just thought I'd add that Aprilia Performance in Tamworth do a rebuild kit Inc new pins , bearings and seals for £100 ish . All better quality than the original stuff.
Did mine a few years ago not had issues since , may be worth fitting nylon shims too , to eradicate the slight sideways float .
Sharpened handling back to how it was when new !!

A deffo for the nylon shims.

Gday Aldo. This is slightly off topic and almost mutinous, but is Tuonoworld dead?

Regards Bern.

Hi Bern, I'm sorry to say the ****** ****** that owned the forum spat his dummy out.
He gave little notice that he was going to do this and from memory the site fees weren't due until July.

Aldo is being somewhat..... polite .... "Nob" is ..... a ******* Nob..... and I'm being polite too.

Selfish, self centred .... insert your own derogatory comment.

Can't see past himself.

Bloody shame .
