Distance riding on the V4

Hi Paul,
How much are you looking for the gel seat ? Is it the seat fitted to the latest Tuonos ?
Off to France/ Spain soon, did the same last year on standard seat, was ok but if you have seat going cheap would consider changing.

It's not the one fitted to latest Tuono... I got it off ebay last year for £60....you can have it for £40 plus delivery if you like?... Pm me and I'll send you some pics

Proper mile munching! I'd Like to ride the Alps one day, Through from france into Italy then up to Switzerland.

ive just back from a 10day jaunt around the alps and black forest, just over 2k miles and the V4 was faultless, the S1000r i was with did not perform so well though lol, he had an issue with his ignition wchich meant his bike remained running without the key in place, key removed ignition still on and only way to stop it was using the kill switch. this meant the ignition was still on though so he had to remove the battery the last 3nights.

All this talk about getting GAY seats etc, 1975 rode down through France to St Trops 2 Bonnies 650cc and 2 Norton commandos 750cc about 850mls .... Our arses were not in good shape I can tell you but we put up with it, now my tuono and me s/triple (now sold) are no better but I get off after 90mls max, to refuel + ten minutes and it's all good again , get on with it you young tarts

Dont know about you but I dont like to have a good beating up the arse !:thumbup

If you want to debate cripplers, I rode my 999 for the first time in 3 months today, feel like ive just done 10 rounds with Tyson :) (Snowman- Its in the office bike shed if your in before 6am)

If you go from Aost up to the St Bernard Pass, you will be riding on a narrow mountain road, parts of which were crumbling at the edges, with no barriers... unless things have changed in the recent years! And riding on the r/h/s you will be nearest the edge, especially if a car comes down from the Swiss direction! :crazy

Makes the ride even more fun, of course. But when you get to the Swiss side, it's a different story. Roads much better maintained, with fantastic sweeping bend after bend. When I first saw them bends, without having a bike to hand, it nearly ruined my honey moon!! But I darnt tell my new wife that or it would have!! :lol

PS: The run through Chamonix is stunning too!

Sounds like I'd be leaving bite marks in my seat. The roads sound a lot like the Greek Mountain roads, My better half has family living in Crete and the mountain roads there are a tad unnerving. Bad enough that on one occasion the Family member driving the car decided he would stop the car and get out for a tantrum about how scary it was... I had to drive us back with him wimpering the whole time.

:thumbup

NB: For 'bite marks' I read 'brown marks'...! Predictive txt tools are dyslexic!

When I crossed from Switzerland to Italy and drove down from St Bernard Pass to Aost, the changes were quite remarkable.
a) Roads went downhill in more ways than one (as mentioned). Thankfully we didn't meet a single car coming up!
b). Cattle changed from soft brown dairy with bells (cos their horns don't work :megaphone :lol), to scrawny black Italian breed with sharp horns.
c) Cool, comfortable Swiss air changed to hot within few hundred feet from the summit. Temps increased to around 40C as we dropped down to Aost (June time). It was a relief to pass through the Mont Blanc tunnel and back into cooler France.
- North Italy, on south side of Alps is a heat trap, with its own v-hot summer climate! Now you know why Aprilias are so well designed they never over heat! ;). But there riders will... :p

I did last Saturday Gd St-Bernard and Pt St-Bernard passes. The road on the Italian side of Gd St-Bernard towards Aosta is better (excellent) compared to the one on the Swiss side after road disjoints from tunnel up to the pass itself. On the Italian side there is only a little of roadwork after road from tunnel and from pass join.

Its definietly worth the trip out there, I'd want to make a week of it though, just so i can bimble downs at a leisurely pace
