I have been thinking long and hard for a while now on what bike could replace the T but always come up with the same answer NONE :thumbdown
However my hand may be forced due to an old injury rearing its head too much lately and leaving me in a lot of pain after a good blast :no
I have held off going to see the orthopedic specialist for over 12 months now but have had to bite the bullet and go to see the surgeon on the 6th of August to discuss my options :banghead
at least I should get to ride the rest of the season albeit in pain on the T but after that fook knows :dunno
at least the T will be staying in the garage as it will be going to jnr and the shiver will hopefully be PXed for something a little more comfortable for my shoulder and other aches and pains :yes
I am erring towards the adventure/tourer side of life and would prefer to stick with a twin but that does limit my options scratching1 the GS is not an option :no

Aprilia to the Caponard.

KTM do some good V2 bikes with plenty of character.

Honda have the big traily thing - Varadero.

The Tuono hurts you shoulder that bad? Or am I wrong to assume it's your shoulder? I need mine replaced and it's totally fooked, but I'm better on my Tuono then I am on my Sprint. A day on my Sprint and it keeps me awake at night.

If you have to do the ADV thing I think the Multi, Caponard and the KTM adventure are you're only twin choices. F'the GS. I've been thinking of Swapping the Sprint for one of these but keeping the Tuono.

Decisions decisions MR B,
Think I will have a similar decision when the time comes.
I've had a V4 T out today for a demo, it's certainly a cracking bike, but for some reason, after 3 hours my neck had had enough. It feels slightly lower on the bars than the twin, you seem to sit on it rather than in it.
Fook me tho does it go! :yes,
That stelvio is a nice looking bike in the flesh, dunno much about it tho.:dunno

Mr B, Check out this months Adventure Bike Rider.

It's got a test between the Stelvio, Big Tiger, KTM AdVenturer and Honda Crosstourer.

The Stelvio gets a decent report, but the Honda comes out on top because of its DCT gearbox (sort of automatic).

Basically, all are decent bikes.

There is also the Ducati multi strata, a sports bike with high bars and a comfy seat. Bit pricey though.

Sad news Mr B, but if you choose wisely you and grin could be the Tiger Twins :lol

When I get old, like you two, I quite fancy getting something a bit retro, or retro looking. Comfortable sit up and beg style bike.

Not good news Mr B, I like the look of the multi-strada but the price is out of my league. Had a look at the new S1000r today, it's a nice machine but I reckon divorce would be the outcome if I bought one.

The Stelvio is nice. Not water cooled though. Their engines seems to lack a bit relative to other V-twins with similar displacement.... But they have character. However 100 hp and 84 ft lbs of torque at 600 lbs. is not so good.
Not a fan of the DCT and not a fan of the Tiger Triples.
Honestly as far as bang for the buck (or quid) and power to weight proportion, the new Vstrom 1000 wins. Same HP as the Selvio with more torque at 80lbs lighter.

What about the Ducati hypermotard, or there is now a touring version with a bigger tank.

I know a couple of people who have them and think they are great.

Old school cool, with air cooled motors and rattly clutch.

Or, Try some higher bars on the Tuono, get shot of the rear sets, more padding on the seat, soften the suspension a bit.

Perhaps the problem is all that bling, tiring you out every week end when you polish it.

Try hosing it down once a month instead like GF.

You dont want one of them.:no They are ****.The Hypermoturd finished me with Ducati.
The wheezy motor will feel gutless after the T,....oh yeah, the early bikes had the dry clutch, but its a wet 'un on the later versions.

cheers for the feedback peeps :thumbup
the good thing is I don't have to rush into a decision so I will hopefully make the right one but I suppose first of all I need to know in my own mind what I want from the new bike :dunno
Sporty comfort - Tiger 1050 - Multistrada 1200 - although the old style is starting to grow on me
Adventure comfort - Stelvio - GS - V Strom
or after some of the near misses I have had this year calm it all down with a GF machine
as for your comments Mikkel I think you are due a slap :slap_tlr

Have you tried rotating the bars back on ya T so you sit up more ?

Im sat upright on mine and its comfy as fook...
