:eatcorn Hello griff, spoonz and Dr rossi .with my ecu wire cut on my 02 it is running very luvvvly with no needed tweeks on tbs or anything at all .I do feel a little more umph in her .not a whole lot. but so I geussed it helped out. but I find it odd because i have the arrow chip in it and did it go to map two .it must of because i feel abit of a defferance in it. time to get it dynoed.with it cut and not cut and that will tell if it is really working or not.dam that is a long rambal on. sorry.. donnie

You're eprom probably is a RP58

The 2003 model Rossi has always been a point of contention ecu wire wise.

Most of the 2003 bikes i have seen had not had the wire cut by the dealer hence why i asked the question of Aprilia when we were doing some work with a mates 2003 bike.

On his bike the tuner we were using for the dyno etc could not detect a difference between wire cut/wire not cut or at least not a discernable difference.

The dealer who liased with Aprilia for us also confirmed they hadn't cut any wires on the 2003 bikes they had sold.
I have to say the jury is still out, I have seen Aprilia racing eeproms with disabled trimmers dispite Aprilia saying they are always active so even they don't seem 100% aware of what is going in the bike at any 1 time.

Sold my 2000 bike long time ago but thanks for the chip offer.

At the end of the day if you cut the wire you win both ways. If it has a second map you get a gain but if it doesn't you get the same so you can't lose.

My dealer told me the same but it originally came with the RP58.
My model is a late 2003 and I have compared de Bin file of a oder RP58 eprom and they were exactly the same.
So I suppose they didn't develope a new Eprom just for this one year :dunno

:thumbup thanks dr rossi you are correct.that is what it is. it is pretty cool that I cut it and had to do no other adjustments on her..:biggrin donnie

According to the manual the trim pots were active on 98 bikes but were disabled on 99/2000 and re activated on 2001 on oem chips.

I know Sabre's stock chip and my 2000 rsv had deactivated trimmers if that sheds any light on it.

I also have an email from Aprilia stating that 2003 bikes have the same map in both locations on the stock chip and not to cut the wire as it's not needed. Not that it will hurt just you get the same map.

who signed that email mate............someone need an arse kickin!

I'll dig it out and see if it says as i posted it on Rsvr.net at the time, but were talking Aprilia Spa not Aprilia UK.

Which is probably worse if it's the case that the info is Guff

This is the important content of the email from the dealer which i lifted from the post i made at the time Griff

After talking to Aprilia Tech they told me that on the Aprilia RSV Titanium E-prom & SP Titanium E-prom there is only one map and therefore you do not need to cut the wire if you install one of these chips on your bike.

What we also have been told by Aprilia is that on 2003 RSV & Tuono there is only one map on the stock chip and the wire does not need to be cut on these bikes, we have never done that since on all the Touno, RSV and RSV-R's we have delivered
.

Hi guy's just a quicky just purchased 2002 rsv millie r had Aprilia SP race cans with ecu chip installed checked airbox and restrictor plate is out but does not look like the wire from the ecu has been cut take a peek there seems to be 2 wires further down going into a sheath are these relavant or not.I take it it is the blue wire at the left hand side second
row down that gets cut.

Cheers Col.

If i reconnect the wires on my 2000 and fit the Rossi chip, do i get the better map? I still cant fathom how my bike reads the RSV titanium chip and runs, but now i've tried 3, yes 3 different Rossi chips and the EFI still flashes and wont start. I borrowed Rossi chips that work in the identical bike but doesnt work in mine.
Could someone have altered something else? Is there anything else to alter?

I'm still struggling here lads. :dunno:dunno

I beginning to think i leave the bike how it is. wires cut. Titanium chip.

DrRossi ive a leo vince can and a hooked air kit and will be ordering a chip of urself later this month for an 2002 millie would i gain from cutting the blue wire?

Ignore my last post. Its sorted now. I'm a t**t. If i remove the protection board everything works. Me :jack:jack:jack

got a 2001/02 rsvr with a aprilia titanium rsv can k&n filter and after a peek in the ecu today a aprilia titanium rsv chip i guess i dont need to cut the wire or do i ????

No need to cut the wire as the RSV TI chip has 1 map...i run the same setup with PCIII map over the top..i have not cut my wire. Also this chip enables the CO2 trim pots on the ECU :biggrin The PCIII added 6hp to the setup, after mapped on the dyno
