Anyone interested in a completely fooked 2002 red RSV?

just relaxing as I pulled into Reading svces heading west, nothing around at all and the front is wiped out by the 4cm ripple in the centre of the road. must've been doing about 25mph and the bike has slid up the road and totalled itself on one of the huge rocks on the side.

Can't believe it...
3rd party insurance only. :puke

Anyone else had this happen???

Ouch! Mate, hope you're OK though.

I don't know about this sort of thing, the only accident I've had was my fault, but is there an avenue open to get the owner of the road to explain why they have a 4cm ripple on their access road and put something towards your repairs? Not suggesting suing them or anything daft like that, but just a possibility?

The front damage is nasty, but a lot of the bike looks ok.

I'm sure if you break the bike and sell only the good bits you'll recoup a lot of your money?

Engine, swinging arm, manifold, rear wheel, front calipers, rear seat, hugger- if it can be sold, try and sell it.

It's a horrid piece of luck though.

Kin ell mate, that doesn't look too pretty now, gutted for you. I'm guessing you're ok though ??.

I would definately find out who owns the road and be filing a claim, I know it might 'feel' like the wrong thing to do, we dont want to end up like the yanks, but it might get the road fixed if they dont want to be paying out again and save someone else the financial and physical pain of wrecking their bike

Mate, hope you're OK. Dunn whether the piece of road you've crashed on was public or privatly owned but this site may be of some help - I'd definitly pursue a claim.

Ouch. I winced for you when I saw that. What a ***** thing to happen. I'm so sorry. You sound resigned to it. I'd be blazing.

The suggestion of breaking it for selling the spares sounds good. At least you'll recover something.

****! dont think thatll polish out! looks a bit of a mess m8, hope your ok though

Sorry too hear of your mis-hap,but I would certainly want too know who put the ROCKS there, as without them you would have got away quite lightly,as I did when my front wheel slid on slimey cow sh@t,just glad your ok and best of luck in claiming,

What a pain in the *** mate, hope you're ok. If its just the front end damaged could you repair it?! Provided the frame and forks aren't bent of course. I would definately look into claiming, that is unacceptable dude. Hope you get your deserved payout for it.

Yep WTF are those rocks doing there?? Dangerous id say! Barriers is one thing but Rocks???

Hope your ok fella!

all weather gear saved me...Alpinestars trousers = BRILIIANT

Thanks, def-o will chase a claim. First firm of vultures weren't interested...
Lid is battered: i put those handlebar mitts on for the day 'cos it was -1C when i set off and when i hit the deck it was my head that landed first... Nice couple in a really fancy Merc stopped to help me up and to put the bike on the grass then took me to the services and got me a tea. Paramedic asked me the usual questions: no problem. Then he asked me what day it was. I said Monday, he said, '...err no, Tuesday...' and I was so convinced he was taking the p*ss that I started to square up to him! Couldn't remember where I'd been or where I was going for about 3 minutes then it started coming back to me. First 'off' I've ever had in 15 years and just really surprised at how my noggin was performing!!
Very achy neck and ribs but back to pedal power for a while will sort that out...
If anyone has any other firms that they can recommend for pursuing a claim I would be very grateful.
Cheers for now....

Damn mate, not good. Atleast your walking dude. I know that road too and I can say that the centre part is bloody nightmere. I almost dropped it when I had a zx9.

bad luck pal. agree with others regarding the road surface and the rocks, thats just not necessary! are the forks bent? you could flog it as a track bike...? (minus faring and front wheel!) good luck getting something out of the fat cats :thumbup

If you have house insurance, check to see if there is accident cover.
Never found one I could recommend, have a few that I wouldn`t,White Dalton being one to avoid.
Did the police get involved ?

I have free legal advice with my bank account that covers motoring (Barclays Additions Active Account) so might be worth a look.

That is a right barsteward squire. Good to read that you've walked away fairly unscathed. I've used White Dalton for motoring offences before and they were very good, not to sure whether this would be their thing but worth a try anyway.

As a side point, I am guessing that the access road is council owned. You may need to check on this regarding the responsibilties of the leasee i.e the services company regarding the access road condition upkeep, but I suspect it will fall back to the council. Keep your chin up and don't stop trying to find someone to help. Good luck :thumbup

I used Bond Pearse, the fee came out of the settlemant, they were brilliant, they are on tinternet
