Collector link pipe Mod

Side by side the early system looks better, theyve already kinda got this mod built in. I wonder if Aprilia changed them for a good reason like performance or if it is like the early/late air collector thing.

yeah i thought this as well....might have been for costs? :dunno

i should have another 2 modded by next week so anyone interested let me know...

Hiya Mark

These look great another great mod where will it stop.

Im in mate i will be the first then put me down for some headers mate :devious

Thanks Craig

looks good, well done
i am still interested, would the modified pipes be cleaned like the one in the pics?
since i'm not that far away is there any chance of riding up and fitting it at yours so i could just leave my pipe there or would it be best if i took it home to fit?

looking forward to your weekend review
hope that 5k dip disappears

it was that clean when i bought it ..i'd probably give them a quick clean up .

i've not got a garage here so it wouldn't be too good with winter coming as we'd be out on the patio...unless i break out the gazebo thingy..lol:devious but as your close i could always come to you..cold exhaust as well safer..no burns..lol.have you got tools? you could start removing yours as i leave home and it would be ready for the new one by the time i arrive for my cup of tea :thumbup..

i've bought 4 headers at a cost of over £250 to get this going on an exchange basis so once i get the others sorted i should be able to offer these on regular basis.

i'll then place a proper ad in the for sale section

Nice one Craig...i think a modded collecter will go great with one of your "HOOKED" airboxes ......should sort out most peoples need for speed!!

Hooked very nice but yer not as good a tig hand as sensi! ha ha only joking, will this link work on my 2000 rsvr, sorry it's a 1999 model on a 2000 plate?????????

ha ha, i've not got a garage either so i thought i could sponge yours!
i've got the tools so just need to wait for decent weather,
sounds like exchange basis would be best unless you could pop down on a nice day, i'll take one, keep me posted.

cheers

Hey Redratbikem just be carefull to not put to much weld around the join's , mine is only 2.5mm fillet , Stainless steel is very prone to cracking so the less heat affected zone you make , eg smaller welds the better for the pipe & the join's . And Argon purgering is a must ! Looks good tho will be interested to see if it works as great as I have gotten from mine :thumbup

Deffo interested in one of these, PM'd you Mark.

I'm thnking about wrapping my headers and collector, do you think its wise if the welds might be subject to even more heat?

mmnn not sure ..wouldnt that make them hotter:dunno

if you want some wrap i know a place that does it for £15 for 10 metres of 1" + p&p

The welds would be subject to more heat as the header pipes would be insulated as would the collector

Hi Senzei,,

this was the first one so happy with it but will refine it for the next batch ..the welder started talking about root weld, fillet weld etc..:dunno

He def. argon purged it though:thumbup

Thanks for your advice

i`m sure that i have read somewhere that these pipes were changed for the later bigger valved heads :dunno

any feedback yet on whether this mod produced the desired mid range boost?
has it taken out for a ride yet?

thanks
