Collapsing rear suspension - PLEASE READ!!!!!

Yep,

Whats bad about it is that trading standards in this county can't do anything about it or just can't be arsed. Probably why there are 14,000 people in this county who need new hips.... Thinking about going to the states on holiday. Michigan looks good this time of year. Might not be coming back for a while though.... :bash:kicknuts:fire:mad:

Thinking about an ombudsman, honest john daily telegraph and local mp now. Other than someone in US on the US aprilia forums doing something about it.

Anyone else got any ideas how to get this product banned from EU?

Have not seen a thread on AF1 yet!!
Get it heard. this forum is not as active as AF1 and most on there are are in the USA.
Post it on all the boards to see if that provokes a response.
Another good forum for advice on such matters is Performance Bikes Forum

Yep done AF1 forum buddy its on there somewhere. Already got replies where it has happened to other people over there too. Keep asking for people over there to do something about it but no one has.

Will try PBF but legally cannot see what they can do, other than getting the word around not to buy the link. It just ******* crap. If maggie was still alive and in her prime this wouldn't be happening I could tell you that and government agencies like trading standards would be doing something about it and the US would be listening. Whether you liked here or not, its the truth

Think that it will take a few people to get killed and there would have to be a good accident investigator for it to even maybe get actioned and even then I think that it will be just a case of; well he or she fitted it. Its their fault... It will happen at some point if not already, as it nearly happened to me.

Its just rubbish. I am getting the attitude of, well I'm going to be alright now as I know about it. Its someone else's fault if they buy the link and get killed through it snapping. It just the attitude I am getting as I just can't do anything about it. Trading Standards are useless there is no point in even having them. Can't even stop ebay from selling them to people in this country even though they know about it and they know that they could kill someone. Can't even look after people in their own country through bureaucracy. Its like going in to a shop and the man behind the counter saying; its no good pointing at it the computer says we don't have one. No different. Just makes me laugh, what do you do? Walk off and do nothing? Sod it and say I've had enough?

The whole situation just makes me sick. You would think after thousands of years we would be able to get basic things like this sorted out by now and have the correct agencies that can deal with situations like this.

Start legal proceedings. Contact a lawyer

Yes thats what I got back from 3 US trading standards agencies. One of them was in the same state. Thats their answer to everything because most of the time nothing happens and it goes away. Not their problem. Not going to happen though is it? Can you see Soupy coming over here to this country to a UK court order? Like, really...

There is nothing that I can do or that can be done. I'll just let someone else get hurt or even die or maybe accidentally kill someone else, maybe a small child and not worry about it, as nothing that I can do more than what I've already done. Thats just the way that it is I'm afraid, so won't loose any sleep over it when it does happen.

Still going to keep trying though because I'm like that....

Just need to find someone in the US it has happened to. Start up a thread on each forum, collect peoples details. Get someone in the US to follow it up with a lawyer I reckon.

Very frustrating I bet.. just very fortunate you weren't hurt..

I think Aprilia should be helping you out with this. Even though its not their part, you may be surprised? never know.. It does suck big time though mate :upside

Yes Thanks m8. It is very frustrating. I'm not really after any money because I don't expect to get any. Won't even give me my money back for the link. I would believe that if it happened but they aren't going to do that. But more to the point the product needs to be discontinued and Banned. But the only way to get it banned is for the US trading standards to ban it or the company to stop producing it. Problem is US trading standards aren't doing anything about it and the company isn't going to stop producing it as if they did, by their own omission they would be admitting liability, which could cost them money. So they will just keep producing it until someone in the US gets hurt. The only way this product will get stopped is for someone in the US has an accident like I did and sues the company. Other than that nothing is going to happen. I will not be buying anything online from America ever again now unless it is something that doesn't really matter and if its faulty I can afford to just throw it away.

Meantime we have to put up with it being sold to people in the EU who don't know about it and for it to keep costing people money and causing accidents.

You never know someone might pop a cap in Soupy's *** and do the world a favour :devious

...I think Aprilia should be helping you out with this. Even though its not their part, you may be surprised? never know..

Why would aprilia help out? They never even addressed their own problem of link plates failing on late model RSVR's and Tuono's. People injured and at least one death possibly directly connected to these parts failing and no action.

Its in their financial interest.. as if less of those linkages are purchased they may make more cash selling roller bearings etc. Good for public image etc..

Small chance they would help but worth a shot I reckon. If I was in his position I would exhaust all avenues of trying to prevent the same thing happening to someone else. We are potentially talking life and death here not £100 part or however much it cost..

Does he have a website that we can all go and give terrible reviews on???

People have already started doing it. You could add yours if you like....

I have had 2 comments removed in the last 24 hours. My last one is still on there at the moment

Good idea might try that one. Its worth ago at least they might be able to put a bit more pressure on them maybe

Albrown, I went onto the Soupy's site and left a message on their message board too. The power of a bad review is amazing, especially if it is sustained, and emphatic. The more bad reviews, the more the word gets out there. Go onto every biking forum you can, and post up about this. The power of the social media is incredible. Use it!

You are right m8 Thank You. Just need a few more people like you to keep hounding him with messages until the situation is resolved however long it takes. For me this is just the start of it and I really appreciate the support that people have offered so far. Purely out of the fact that Soupy has ignored all my emails and not even refunded me the money for the link or offered me anything, that I am now looking at taking legal action against him, both through someone in the US if I can get someone to help me and if I can legally do that and with our own government services with him possibly selling a product that does not pass EU and/or US safety regulations. I know it hasn't but it has to be done properly and proven correctly. Thats being looked at now. Going to go on for months this could but the more it does the more I end up building a stronger case against him. Cheers, Andy
