Clutch Slipping

The pin on the clutch lever that goes into the master cylinder is adjustable, there is a little screw under the lever that locks it into place.
This screw often comes loose/falls out !!, this allows the pin to rotate (it is threaded) this then applies pressure to the master cylinder causing the clutch to partially engage , this gives clutch slip !!

BEFORE shelling out on clutch plates check this !!

Kiwi-rsvr:thumbup Thanks for the tip man, but i've checked and the pin is still there and there is free play on the lever so i don't think it's that. Seems to me looking at the threads on here that quite a few people suffer clutch slip and try various methods to solve.
Went to see the main man Griff last Thursday:thumbup and he sorted out most of my problems but not the clutch slip. Tried putting m6 washers to pretension the springs but it made no difference. Griff said that it was the plates so i'll trust his knowledge and experience and try new plates.
By the way if anybody has issues with their bike i'd give Griff a call. He is a thoroughly nice dude and knows his stuff when it comes to rsv's and is only too happy to help or give advice.

Buffalo, what oil are you using? I have just changed from 10/40 to 15/50 semi synthetic but i have been told that this would not cause the clutch slip. I have just ordered new barnett clutch plates and springs so i hope it solves the problem or i will be p***ed.

I put motul 10/40 semi in, but have noticed mine always slips after i change the oil, mainly when i have been in traffic and the temp rises then give it some. I removed steel plates and roughed them with 400 wet & dry but no change.

I changed the clutch plates and springs last night with a barnett clutch kit and after taking it for a quick test ride it appears to have solved it:doug
I bought the kit off the wemoto web site for £148 plus shipping of £7.50 which seemed to be the cheapest about. Delivered after 3 days too. The new springs were about 10mm longer than the old springs and i had to put a couple of old springs back on initially so that i could get the bigger springs on as they were a bit of a pig to compress.
Clutch works great and has not made it any stiffer though it seems to be a bit harder to hook neutral but hope this improves as the plates bed in.
