Hey folks, I'm looking for a chain oiler as I've had Scott oilers for so long I've practically forgotten how to oil a chain! Scott oiler website doesn't list the 1000 on its compatibility list but Im hoping that's because it's exactly the same as the older model as far as the oiler is concerned? Does anyone have one fitted (vacuum version) and if so how easy was it to get it to fit / stow the reservoir etc... Cheers in advance!
 
Scottoiler still owe me one for some work I did after their main door took a ramraid hit.

That was nearly six years ago and I've never bothered to back to have it fitted.

They did say they wanted to refine their gen2 fitting but I suppose they've done that already.

Wurth dry lube fir me, I don't mind replacing the chain every 16kmiles.
 
Contact Scottoiler and they will send you some pictures and installation instructions.

I fitted one in Jan, really simple, but will take longer the neater you want it fitted. I tie-wrap the reservoir under rear seat, against right hand side at approx 45 degrees from the horizontal. Need to make sure unit clears the under-seat rubber feet though.

Problem with shape of Tuono swingarm is the twin injectors won't fit (unless you make a bespoke bracket/block). I found dual injectors are much better than single. With single the far side of chain doesn't get enough oil... so I'm a bit disappointed with single injector. May consider making a bespoke bracket somepoint.
 
While I was at Aprilia Performance, the guys showed me the WD40 chain lube and explained why it's top notch stuff.

I'm using that from now on and won't use my Putoline stuff again.

That's after two runs that total under 600 miles and these forged wheels are an absolute fukker tae clean.

So I'm back to the wurth dry lube and as I said above 16k miles from a chain and I'm happy.

That said wd40 chain cleaner does whit it says on the tin.

This is after two lots of Gunk Ultra and a ten min blast wae the pressure washer.

They told me it won't fling.....obviously you've found out different!!!

It's all to do with the drip rate setting, which can be easily controlled. If too high, it will always fling. If too low, chain will run dry. With double injector on my last bike, I could get setting about right with minimal fling. But with single injector I'm having trouble keeping right side of chain oiled without a high flow rate and fling.

My wheels are black so not such an issue. But if they were any lighter colour I wouldn't go for a Scottoiler with single injector and in absence of anything better I'd stick with chain lube per Aldo's feedback.

I use a dry lube

it may not be the best for lubing a chain

it may mean I may lose a few thousand miles in chain life

it may not be recommended by the experts

it mat not be recommended by the manufacturers

it may mean that I'll be spending a bit more on chain & sprockets

I care not

not one iota

at least I'm not wasting good riding time scrubbing **** off my bike and boots every other weekend
 
I have always used Wurth chain lube but jnr started using the WD 40 and as I was on the Guzzi it was his problem :lol now I am back with chain drive the WD is in the bin :lol
 
Cheers for the words of advice guys. I've used scottoilers on all my bikes for the last 10 years and never had a problem with them making a mess but maybe that's because I'm a tight arse and always have it turned down low! Will give the wurth lube a go in the short term.
 
My chains lasts about 12-15k miles.
Or about 4-5 years.
That's about £30 per year.
Cheap enough.
