Well, inspite of regular checks and cleaning, as part of my pre-flight checks prior to my trip to Scotchland next week I pulled the connectors tonight to find this little beauty...

so..if you aint chopped the fekin thing out yet....do it before it fries yer stator reg/rec at mucho cost to yourself...:jack

Are you going to do the full mod or just bypass the brown connector. I've got a bit of time on my hands ATM and thought about doing the full mod before it goes **** up.

I've just removed the centre connector mate, I only have 2 plugs in total the 2nd of which connect to the Reg/rec, I'm not keen on hard wiring that one so I've removed the offending article from behind the coolant bottle and hard connected that,
The stator side of the plug hadn't melted yet, just the egnine side of it, so I'm hoping no damage, the reg/rec plug has an airflow inlet (for the reg/rec itself) so should be kept cooler...I'll just keep an eye on it tho !:confused

Funners, remove both of them mate, if need be it only means removing the solder with an iron if you need to at the rectifier, quick tip, tie some cord round it and pull it through to the clutch side, it is easier to work on, then push it back through.

Neil, it was not as much of a problem on your model mate, better safe than sorry though

Eh oop Bodger..:biggrin
Aye, I've already repaired it, the centre one that is, I pulled it thru like you say, Far far easier to work upon....
still not keen on hard wiring that connection to the reg/rec...
reading the Futura ( I think) some lads have had success with soldering the wires into the crimps in the OE plug...I may go down that route...:dunno
