Broke down agin. Fed up now.

What battery have you got in your bike?? The charging system might push it up to around 13.5 sounds like she's over charging

if the relay is just clicking it is because it is not getting enough voltage.. check the voltage across the battery whilst cranking.. you need a reading under load to give you an idea as to how healthy the battery is atm.. if it drops close to or below 10v whilst cranking then the battery is knackered or needs a good charge.. when you bought the battery, did you check the voltage across the terminals i think it has to read atleast 12.4v otherwise you need to put it on charge for between 6 to 8 ours at 4 amps.. if you do not do this it drastically reduces the life span of the battery..

also what amperes is your starter relay rated to?

if the relay is clicking it means it is working, when a relay does nothing that's when you start to think about replacing it after ensuring your battery has sufficient charge under load

I think that's wrong mate. You don't ever want to charge a bike battery at 4 amps either from new or to re-charge. This will seriously shorten the life of a bike battery. You need a light charge for several hours. maybe about 1 amp. I got that info from a professional vehicle electrician who also owns a gen 2.

I only have a 4amp charger unfortunately.. but yeah now that you mention it that sounds about right, but I've had no issues so far..

Amps and volts are not the same thing..lol

I think 4 amp chargers are for car type batteries really. You might get away with it, but it's not ideal for a long life for bike batteries.

Charge at no more than 10% of the batteries AH rating. Optimates are good :thumbup

That sounds like good advice for a long, happy, life with your battery.

I like your new location 'Always pissin down with rain Sussex', I need to change mine to 'Always pissin down with rain Yorkshire'. lol

Since spraying the contacts etc and putting and additional earth cable from the negative of the battery to the frame, it appears to be working and starting again!! Piece of *****!
