So what pads do you guys use? I am a relatively conservative street rider with no track time in the future. I need to replace them asap so I don't know what my options are going to be without ordering something and waiting. The local Aprilia dealer stocks oil filters and key blanks and not even consistently on them so I will more likely be getting something aftermarket. There happens to be a national mailorder accessory company that is based locally so I can make a short road trip. Their catalog has alot of options so looking for any suggestions based on personal experiences?
BTW, anyone know what specific Ducati models may share pads? I have that dealer around the corner.:dowhat
 
I tend to use EBC HH pads good in the wet or dry.
For a little bit more of an aggressive riding style then Ferodo or SBS, but the EBC's are just as good. (If that makes sense)
 
Seconded there Kiwi. EBC HH's which sort of go zzzzzzzzzzzzssssssssshhhhh quite nicely when applied.

Oh, they stop the bike in great fashion too with a good progressive feel from the lever :thumbup
 
The ones you use are for a more agressive riding style? That's not generally me but when my friends borrow her, they ride her hard. I assume bike pads are similar to car pads as far some generating alot more brake dust than others. I use ceramic in my autos for that reason. Applicable to bike pads or not really? I hate cleaning her more than I need to. The ball and chain is jealous eenough of her as it is without excessive polishing too.

Do you know what you have in at the moment 02Aprilia?

I can't comment on ceramics i'm afraid, but the EBC's certainly don't put out a mass of dust in my experience.

What I can say is that the feel you get from them is above what you will be used to if you haven't used them before. They have great stopping power and bite, but it is controllable through feel if that makes sense to you. At the end of the day, the brakes are what will save your backside in some situations whether you ride aggressively or not, and if the brakes give you enough feedback to not lock the front up but be right on the point of chirping the tyre, all the better I think :thumbup

EBC HH for me too, never fitted anything else to my bikes.

Mate had some cheap crap from Ebay and they were fooking lethal, they grabbed the disc like a mad man grabbed his wife after 10 pints of Stella (wife beater).

I'm not sure about the braking systems on bikes, but on cars most of the dust is from the disc itself, not the pad.
 
Confirm with lads as above..always ran EBC HH...exclnt breaking power & feel.
Tip: Keep you disc rotor buttons clean and free & rotating or brake shudder will rear its head.

Well, I don't know what's in there but it seems to be pretty unanimous as to what should go in. Hopefully there will be some available locally tomorrow so I can get em in. Was riding yesterday and they seem to be completely worn. Friend alongside of me said he could hear them grinding over the dual high mounts on his Monster! As far as those damn bobbins go, mine seem seize and she shakes. I get them worked loose and it's gone for 2 weeks then it creeps up again. How can you lube them without risk of lubing your tire and/or pads and discs?

I would think your disc calipers are same as my 02, therefore they will have 4 individual pads per caliper..not the large pair as your link has shown.

Just looking for EBC part number matey..i used to have it somewhere.. :dunno

I run EBC HH too front and rear and they take 2 mins to fit, and they are great, am in my own little world do dee dah doo. Rockets
 
I have only had OE brembo's and SBK5 carbon lorraines. The SBK pads are a fast street/racing pad though and are a close second to the brembo's. The brembos are dear but last better than most and do those awesome calipers justice!

After extensive consideration, it looks as though the SBK5 carbon lorraines are the direction I'm going. I just got off the phone with a buddy who works at the local Ducati Dealer and keeps them in stock there for his own Mille. So I'm even getting them for dealer cost! Thanks for all the help guys!
 
SO this saga continues. I had decided that I was going with the Carbone Lorraines. I went to the dealer and picked up 4 packs. I tore my pads out and they are not the same as the ones that I purchased. The ones I got say SBK3 on the pack. Am I supposed to have SBK5s? The guy that helped me is generally very knowledgable and has never steered me wrong. It's actually a Ducati dealer and he had these stocked for himself. He rides an R model whereas mine is just a standard. He knows this however and I don't think that should make a differance, should it? The ones I bought are the right shape but slightly larger. They also have a thing extending up from the top with a hole in it. Mine just have a little point at the top. Any suggestions? :dunno
 
Alright, I couldn't seem to add pics to my post so I added them to my garage. The pic of the SBK5s shows what I bought. The other pic shows what mine look like? What style Carbone Lorraines match this? I looked everywhere online and can't find them. :jack
 
I know they should but they don't. Did you take a peak in my garage and see the pics I posted there?
