Bike wont start

Can anyone help? My RSV year 2000 will turn over but will not start. Tried the side stand switch still no joy. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks:mad1

Close the fast idle fully and turn the throttle to the stop and keep it there, turn the motor over and keep the throttle open, when and if it fires be ready to knock back the throttle quickly, this is a fairly common thing that happens with them if you touch the throttle at all when from a cold start, hope that helps:thumbup

If the bike's been on its side then you might want to check the Rollover sensor, it's also a common problem that people swap the undertray over, take the rollover sensor out of the bike and put it back upside down...

So it's really a no-no to touch the throttle when starting the (cold) bike?
I was leaving from my bf's house (he has an '01 RSV) and I was ready to start and open the throttle and he nearly slapped my hand off :laugh

Just open the fast idle lever fully and press the starter, nothing else, knock the fast idle back if it is revving to high, remember the engine is cold and this is when damage can be done due to lack of oil throughout the motor:thumbup
