Nice day today.... washed the bike taking care not to splash the electricals and clocks, bike looks sweet... push the start button and all she's doing is spinning over and not sparking into life :no:no First thought is battery ? so on the optimate. I tried to start her 3 times and heard the battery going weak on me and thought best not to keep trying to start her in case i do more damage :roll Tried the open full throttle trick on the last attempt but no joy............ :confused:confused maybe order a yam relay :dunno

:roll:roll Im getting worried now :roll:roll ive heard theres a anti roll re-set button or somethin :confused can anyone tell me where it is , ive had a look around the battery but cant see anything :dunno

Mine a 2000 model m8, cant see if theres one anywhere :confused

happend to me few times,if she does not start on first or second attempt, it will not start at all. I think you fludded it now. take a spark plug out and have a look how wet it is. Can you smell petrol when cranking?
Ps. it can be a ****** to start below 10 C.

Yes , i can smell a bit of petrol maverick , those plugs look a pain to reach and get out :roll

Ps the bike sits outside so guess the frost has made an impression on the battery .

I was told my tilt switch on 03 was under pillion seat and to be careful when putting lock etc under there incase i knocked switch.

Eye tilt switch :confused cant see it anywhere :confused... does the 2000 model have one :dunno

that is another thing , the battery gets weaker, with the cold the oil gets thick and components are tight. At night it freezez a little bit as it warms up in the day time, it starts to condensate in intake and then you get mixture of fuel/water/air and all in all she will not start. The il. 4's are less sensitive to this due to the size of the pistons.

Only thing i can do is leave it on the optimate a few hours and give it another go :dunno if it fails to spark into life after that ill be confused as to what to do next .

Thanks anyway fellas .

somethimes nothing is the way , she done it to me about 2 weeks ago, she didn`t start so i just left it and tryed next day and she started on first attempt, but i know it is frustrating when you want to go somwhere. I guess this are the down sides of having an italian bike.

If its your battery you will hear a click click sound as its trying to power the starter relay

No clicking clicks from the starter relay :dunno

No`8 the inclination sensor in the diagram, ill have a look and give it a flick .

i think she is just being naughty , thats all. if she has fuel , i would take the spark plugs out and put one into the cap and press it against the frame to see if there is spark....then you'll know its only fludded. or if you have an old one just put the cap off and stick another plug in and if itn sparks, that means electricks are ok.

If the starter motor is turning the engine, all the electrics (in the starter circuit) are fine mate if you can smell petrol and hear the pump working you know its not a fueling issue, chances are you washed the bores creating low compression so there need to just dry out. The plugs aren't to bad to get too just one on the front cylinder but you dont have a air box so should be ok. Its just the cold they dont like it mine was a arse the other week dont take it off the optimate now! :devious

Ok cheers ill leave it on over night, the optimates just reading charging at the mo with no green light for fully charged. If i leave the plugs to dry out themselves over night i might stand a better chance of making it fire up :roll, best get me shed built... dont want this every time its cold :thumbup

Well you cant go out on your bike so get building mate! plus its freezing out there i've ended my little ride out early cuppa tea me thinks!
