At the Manx on me traily - nowt to do with Tuonos.

Just buy whatever you can afford, I'll agree with the above about 2t being cheaper to run. I use ma 250exc when the T retires to the shed for the winter. It means I can bike all year round and it sort of keeps yer fit.

Jist fir The Big O, a wee pic of ma winter hack.

This has got me thinking now. Only problem is, I've no where to put the buga.
Many yrs ago a few of us got an old Tiger Cub, took light etc off, big back sprocket and had loads of fun in the old quarry.
Had an XL 250 about 20 yrs ago, but didn't do much off roading with it, it was a bit of a *******, but fun.

Nice looking toy you have there Aldo.

Its criminal not being able to go green laning north of the border, especially with all that open space.

It looks a bit more manageable than a Dominator.

It looks like a few on here are either off roading or thinking of taking it up.

OT get onto the TRF forum and see what the majority are using to go laning. Yer dominator is a heavy machine and even though yer a big guy it can be very energy sapping hauling it out of mud and ****. Unless yer super fit yer day will be more enjoyable with a lighter machine. As for the likes of mine they're far more focused and built for purpose (off road) as such they ain't the best for tarmac. Plus 2t against 4t there are pros and cons fir both. If yer oot fir a long day on ma machine yer'll need tae carry 2t oil with yer and there's the question of maintenance.

Have a look at the forum and draw yer own conclusions. I think the off road bug is nibbling at yer butt mucker and yer could do worse than get oot the hoose on yer machine during the winter months.

Keep me posted wae whit yer decide tae do. :thumbup

Brooksy,
both look nice bikes, have a read of a small mag called TBM.

Loads of options & advice in there.

Mr b they both look like good buys. Check everything when yer go for a look. Head, wheel & swing arm bearings also the spokes. That should give you a reasonable idea of how well they have been maintained.

Remember to have a sit/ride on them, they both look like they have high seat heights. Not that am sayin yer vertically challenged or owt. The ride height being to high can be a major pain in the ***.

Yer obviously not going to rush oot and buy the first bike yer fancy, take yer time and weigh up the pros & cons.

Who knows maybe the next Geordie Hoon I'll be on will be a green laning one. :thumbup

cheers Aldo, will keep you updated.
i like the idea of a green laning hoon, sounds like a lot fun could be had

Aldo, got the chance of a Yamaha WR400F on a 52 plate currently fitted with super moto wheels but comes with excell rims and off road tyres.
whats your thoughts on these, am i being a bit ambitious as its been a while since i rode off road lol

Mr b, am nae expert on all the diffo models oot there. Is it a road legal bike? Whit kind of off road tyres. The excell rims are expensive, are they true ie nae warp or buckle and how do the hubs look, spokes anall.

Do yer think yer could trundle along the tarmac wae the nobies fitted? Stupid question mucker of course yer can, will it be to much, no feckin way.

Mucker if yer feel that the weight and height of the machine is handleable and the price is right and yer like it and yer no shittin yer pants then go fir it.

Addendum - At yer Age if yer NOT shittin yer pants then don't bother wae the aff road crap.

going to give it a test ride on Monday night, will keep you all in the loop
quiet day at work so went to have a look see :yes
what a crock o ***** :thumbdown
he said i could take it for a spin in the field behind his house but i refused after i saw the condition of the chain and realised i had more teeth than the back sprocket, to top it all off i then realised the rear wheel was about as aligned as my d...k
so back to the search :banghead

Mr b, what's for yer will not go round yer.

Keep up the search mucker. :thumbup

Been thinking about something for the winter for green laning myself, but got no mates that are into it ,dont fancy doing it by myself incase of a big off but i do fancy one.
