AMB67 Kent Rideout

Nice vids AMB ........ Did you record to tape or did you find another DVR .:dunno

That's just recorded straight on to my 6 year old JVC camcorder that uses 6 year old MiniDV tapes. :thumbup (Time for some new tapes me thinks)

I thought it was excellent quality footage considering the vintage equipment I was using.

Not too sure on the microphone placement though, it kind of distorts a little and you lose the full effect of the Hooked air box and the Gianelli exhaust roar.

More experiments in this area are needed, if you know what I mean. :devious

I can never seem to get the microphone in the right place either, i always come back with great vid footage but distorted sound ... keep us posted ..
would be interested when you find the ideal setup ...:thumbup

I started with the microphone at the rear and am slowly moving it around the bike, at the moment it's under the riders seat.

Going to move it up front later today to see if I can improve the sound quality, if this fails then I may have to look at upgrading the microphone. (Yes this is just an excuse to ride the bike all the time LOL)

I think I read that you can improve the sound by using an RCA coupler and a special lead that inputs sound to both channels of the camcorder. (If I can actually be arsed that is LOL)

I have the Audio splitter cable and RCA connections but it didnt seem to make much difference ... :dunno
I,m also tempted by this wireless setup camera and DVR (takes 32GB SDCARD)
£99 from Dogcam

Some real clear footage there mate very nice. Your mount is very stable as well as I can't see any shake, rattle or roll on there. Make sure it's mounted for the may rideout in Derbyshire next year dude.

I must admit I was quite impressed with the quality too, the camera is a Dogcam Pro 520 and I have permanently mounted it to the bike so I'm all ready to go for next year. :thumbup

As it's forward facing I won't be able to publish the footage on You Tube for all to see so if anyone wants to see the footage they will have to PM me for the link.

Nice ride Amb ,,,,,,,,,, who,s the GAY bloke opening the gate for u at the end of part 3 ,,,, i was even breathing in when watchin the vid of u parking down the side of the house at the end ,,, as spudmonkey says would be brill at Derby ride out Apr / May ,,, :cheers

That gay bloke as you put it was me mate. :puke

Yeah, it's a tight squeeze down the side of the house, that damn gas meter box is a pain in the arse too, anyone local gas registered and fancies moving or fitting a slim design meter for me? :roll

Looking forward to the meet up next April - May, gonna start stocking up on MiniDV tapes so I can get a few hours of footage stored. The tapes I am using at the moment are 5 years old at least and I think they have had their day.

That's really good quality AMB. If you're still looking for a place to mount the mic, I found the quietest in terms of wind noise was on the plastic plate on the forks inside the fairing. You get good induction noise too but not so good for the exhaust.

All piss taking is taken in the best possible taste and I can give and take the piss with the best of them. :thumbup

Twas funny though! :devious

Do I really look gay then? :roll

Can you elaborate on the aspect of what part of me appearing in the footage actually made me look super gay?

If it's the walk, well I copied that walk off my all time hero 'Smiffy'. :nana

Lol. He's gone into hiding Amb. He's not going to come out of the closet with this one~!:burnout

It's okay - you don't need to worry. I don't think he was saying you look ghey - he just doesn't understand the 'Kentish bandy leg walk' when you got off the bike and opened the gate.

For non-southerners, the bandy leg walk looks like the walker is swaying his gait with oriental geisha girl bound feet in a quick marching staccato movement, erstwhile scratching his balls in between each leg movement. This kind of walking has been perfected by Kentish boys, usually with their hands strategically positioned inside their underwear. It was supposed to be 'criminal cool' to walk like this :eek

The rest of us realise that walking between a tight wall and fence leads to a strange gait :doug

I reckon your right mate, comeback I can take the gay comments, honest. :devious

The bow legged gait is largely due to being mowed down by a 38 Ton HGV back in 1990.

I think that the curvature of the camera lens makes things look a little distorted, I'm not really that fat, I'm just not tall enough for my width. :roll

No ****!:eek::eek: You're lucky to be walking at all after that - even luckier to be walking gaily! :)

I had a similar episode of being mowed that nearly happened this week. A bl**dy great big truck (I didn't have time to calculate its weight like you did ...) drifted into my path at the lights from the offside. All I could do was lean to my right, clutch in and drift out of his path. Didn't even have time to hit the horn. Then I accelerate in front of the lorry driver and he's sitting there taping his mouth his hand looking like  .

Had to let him live after that. He was genuinely upset about what he'd done. Some truck drivers would go the opposite and think: "Damn! I just about missed!"

I was in a wheelchair for 12 months, crutches for 18 months and spent the first two weeks in a coma.

Apparently I'm OK now. :doug
