Planning on heading up to Alnwick and over to Amble on Saturday, if any one is interested let me know
GF - can meet at Chester-le-street or Metro Centre around 10ish, let me know
heading from Chester-le-street - Ponteland - Rothbury - alnwick - Amble - bedlington - south shields
not bothered how to get from point to point so will just follow my nose

Brooksy, depending which way you are coming up, rather than turning off into the Metro, how about the A1 services just up from Chester le st?
Another thought, if you want to stay out longer, carry on past Ponteland up 696 to Carter bar, left then round & down to Kielder?

meet point is okay for me as i can have a decent coffee before we set off, was going over to Amble to call into the caravan site for a coffee at the mother in laws but not too fussed either way.
another option is we head to Amble from the meet then Alnwick - Carter Bar and down via Kielder

on another note how about we meet at the services as mentioned for 10 and go where the mood takes us

Its looking like a fine day.
The T should be running better, it will have just been serviced at DIT.

Hopefully the oil level will stay visible a bit longer after I stop the engine.
It used to stay visible on the sightglass for days / even weeks.
Is this an indication that the oil is getting a bit thinner & returning back to the sump - due a service ?
Its fine when its running though.

i think you could be right about the oil being thinner draining from the sight glass quicker but i also think the level may also be a bit low! and dont forget its a dry sump

Olaf, my bike uses a bit oil, have to top the buga up every 750 miles, 250 mls. Sometimes it drops from the sight glass, other times it stays put. Its strange mate. I check it when stopped at traffic lights & remember, the service light comes on when it gets a bit low.
DIT put my new tyres on last week, good bloke Darryl, likes to take the piss a bit, but cracking mechanic.

has anyone ridden the coastal route from Amble to Bamburgh lateley and if so whats it like,? done it last year and from what i can remember it was okay

If I check the oil approx 10 minutes after I stop, its right in the middle of the plastic tube, so I think the level is OK.
Historically, its never used any between changes.
But after approx 30, minutes, its starting to drain away.
Where as a while ago, it would remain in the middle of the tube for days / weeks.

I will let you know if fresh oil makes a difference later in the week, after a service.
Unles there is some other issue looming ?
