600 to a Mille struggling with riding style double crash

From the photos I think there is a bit of angulation from your hips in your riding style. Your head often appears to be in a line with the screen, even though you have moved your backside across the saddle. If you are over the edge of the saddle, your back should be in a line forwards, thereby putting your head in the space where the wing mirror used to be. This allows the bike to remain further upright, increasing the contact patch of the tyre and therefore increasing grip.

I can only move from the chest, so I have to shove my head right down into that space in order to corner at the same speeds as able-bodied riders. It helps me massively doing this, then standing the bike upright as soon as possible when getting on the gas, but as an experienced rider you probably already do this.

Other than that, suspension and tyres. Which you seem to be covering.

These are merely observations from the photographs and it looks like you ride well, please take the comments in the manner they are intended. I am far from a perfect rider so I know I still have plenty to learn, which makes riding so much fun.

Cheers.

that should have read ,the back lacked feel hence low sides. The rear shock is going to be another week and fork springs will need changing ,so going to give the bike a complete service valves /fluids ,headstock bearings ,swingarm etc ,which takes me a long time as im no hot mechanic . Will check sag and Revs suspension are suplying a set up guide ,which will do for a starter

Ah right thats abit different then. Sounds like you may have had the shock wound to tight (preload)( so its not using its travel) Set you sag, and put all the damping settings to the standard and go from there.

Id agree need to get my elbow out and my body and head should folow .when I started doing trackdays I went through boots and not many sliders from not hanging off . cheers

Make sure your on the ball of your foot and turn the inside one in aswel. this will help with your knee position and save your boots

Went back to Oulton (9 May) with recon rear/front suspension, tyre warmers and set up and help from 100% suspension . this wasnt the real problem ,my riding style had to change 600s/4s need revs and gears ,not RSVs, so first session one gear 3rd only second session 3/4 gears .Its worked for now as it rained after lunch but my times where as quick as my 600 slowly slowly catchy monkey:confused

Well done,it's a big change inline 4 to a v-twin"trouble with the Mille you think it isn't going that fast because of the revs ..

Loosing the front on exit tells me you don't have enough weight on the front. When i had mine I set it to what the book said including fork and shock height followed by a setup from colin.

The milles can carry serious lean for its size but these days a modern 600 has no problems keeping up, but they can still be quick if rode right.

I was loosing the rear coming out of corners ,which I have put down to ,too much revs and tyres not hot enough. The bike was dragging the bellypan in the picture posted, which looks good but doesnt feel good, needs more tweeking on the suspension .need to do more trackdays

Update on Mille last trackday was at Donington didnt go too well with shredded rear due to rong rebound setting(wet previous outing doa!)that was 2012 .not ridden since due to having as much and more fun mountain biking! .Riding down rocky bridleways in the dark gets your adrenaline going.
