1st one is an easy one, what oil do you use? given the price of 15w50 oil & the state of my bank balance i am trying to save money:roll

2nd one, what models/years have sachs rear suspension? just bought one off ebay with the thought that it should fit mine:devious but want to set up the right standard settings before i put it in place.

thanks all:thumbup

I use MOTUL 5100 Semi Synth. :thumbup

:dunno Sorry, No idea about the Sachs shockie!

Agip 15/50w semi here, it's about £45 for the usual (whatever that is these days) 4 litre can. Personally I think it's a false economy to put cheap oil in if you end up wrecking the engine.

silkolene comp 4 15-50 for me, it's under £30.

Can't say for other years but my RSV '03 has a sachs gold rear shock.

isnt the sachs rear shock the satndard for all non factory or R models, maybe slightly different modles of sachs though???

Silkolene Comp 4 for met oo, nice and cheap(and popular for milles) I change it every 2k though.
I think all pre-04 std milles han the sachs rear shock, tho I think the dogbones are different sizes.?
Ck

Good link Barryrs... thats on my favourites now :thumbup

that is where i was looking to get my oil from, also they give some discounts to forums, I don't know if the powers that be could look into that:devious

Got the new shock the other day so fitted it this w/e.

Slightly knackered bump stop!

new shock in situ

Have you noticed a difference? and aren't the yellow springs a softer one than the white :dunno

It's difficult to compare really as the old one was so knackered. This one does feel softer but I checked all the settings on the old one after I had removed it & the spring pre-load had been over tightened by 7mm, I set the new one to standard settings & rode it to work this morning & the difference is amazing.
The best way to tell if a shock has had it is to bounce it. if it pings straight back it has probably had it ( as my old shock did ) if it slowly comes back to place then it is ok.
