Seat cowl

Spoke with Russ @ QB today.

They have made a CF seat cowl today, waiting for bike to go in to check it fits ok (is this you Ric ??).

They are not sure of pricing yet, will also need base plate.

I have explained that they may get a fair few sales if priced well.
 
Their products at QB are phenomenal and look the nutz.

I'm guessing that it's another guys bike they are waiting on as he he hasn't asked me to pop over yet.

You can buy the base plate as a kit from Aprilia for about £70 I think....I told him I'm happy to pop over with mine for test fitting/photos.

that ebay one is a crazy price!
 
That's not our bike mate as that's the 01 - 03 Millie and ours is the 03 Millie only....The back light is different slightly.
 
Just spoke with Russ at QB and he says it will be finished tomorrow :)

However, remember it doesn't come with the base plate that your rear seat uses....There are 3 options available to you.
1. Buy a new base plate kit from April for about £75
2. Look on ebay for a 2nd hand Tuono/Millie seat and take the staples out, the fabric and foam come off easy enough. Then you can attach the cowl to that base plate.
3. Do the same to your rear seat if you never ever want to take a pillion again.

2nd hand seats are about £50 on ebay....They aren't as rare as the Cowls....but you may have to keep an eye out.

He has asked me if he can fit it to my bike now and photograph it, however the road to his workplace is a mud bath and I'm not riding up it ....so we're gonna try and meet somewhere or him come over to mine and do it here, not sure when though as he does live a good 20 miles away from me but we'll get it done.

I did mention that they could buy the base plate kits from Aprilia themselves but that would throw the cost up considerably and getting a 2nd hand seat is probably best.
 
181613823202 This is the item number of a 2nd hand seat for the Gen 1 Tuono currently on ebay.

It is £60 buy it now, with £4.50 postage.

There is also 1 more seat on there, item number 141507895045 and it is priced at £50 with no bids and £10 delivery.

They are the only 2 on ebay that I can see that fit our bikes at the moment.

Just thought I'd also say the do make non carbon ones too ( GRP)...which are a bit cheaper as the material isn't as expensive
 
To add my tuppence worth of investigation.....

QB have said today they will do the carbon cover as a Forum 'group buy' for £89.95, minimum of 5 people required.

Ultimate parts have said they will supply new seat cowl bases for £50 + VAT + shipping for Forum 'group buy', minimum of 5 people required.

Steve 'Ric Flair', would be good to see one fitted, just to know they are defo OK, but they look good in the photos.

Would be nice to email the pictures to the guy with the used one on evilbay for £225 + shipping !!

That's a pretty fair price from all parties!

They do look nice in carbon and there is a carbon rear end on ebay for £190 too to match it ......although my c/card bill is high enough lol.

I will see what I can do about meeting up with Russ, will speak to him on Sunday at the match, I'm working everyday upto Xmas though, so it may be in the early new year,unless he takes a trip over to mine with it in the mean time.

Russ from QB world of Carbon gave me this to test fit while at the match today.
I didn't get home until dark but thought I'd upload some pics straight away.
I will photograph these again in the daylight too and upload ASAP.
He said QB would sell them for £100 each or as quoted above 5 for £90 each.
You have to fit your base plate from your rear seat,butcher a 2nd hand seat and use its base plate or buy the new seat base plate from Aprilia.

What do all you guys think.....my rear end is Matt black and will be going to Dream machine at some point for paint.
 
The poor garage light doesn't do it justice but it's a good fit and looks nice on my dining room table in proper light lol
 
Anyone else want one as Anglo Saxon has been offered them for £90 each for 5.....or £100 individually (excluding the base)

They will be up on the QB world of Carbon website as soon as I upload daytime pics :)
 
131392939509 this is the item number for a standard cowl I've just seen on ebay for £130.....fair price I reckon.
 
Here's my bike with the QB World of Carbon seat Cowl fitted.

Priced at £100 each without the locking base plate it's a good price and fits a treat.

They also do a a non Carbon GRP one at £60 without the base plate. ...which is a right bargain.

This is great to know that future owners don't have to wait months looking for one one ebay and can get one at a cheaper price straight away.
If you use your old seat you can have a Cowl for £60 and if it's in black they come out gloss anyway :)

Hi Ric Flair, I've visited the W of QB Carbon website but can't locate the non carbon GRP cowl you mention for £60.
So if I use my pillion seat base will it fit my 2004 tuono?
