Headlight dash lamp staying on and ECU-Disconnect error message

When riding my 2007 Touno R today the headlamp dash indicator started to flicker on and off intermittently when i was accelerating hard.Suddenly the headlamp dash lamp stayed on.At the same time i got other messages like arrow left then arrow right with a bulb icon in the middle.Then i got a ECU disconnect message.At the moment the headlights indicators brake lamps do not work,just the headlamp dash lamp stays on even for some seconds when i switch off the ignition.I have gone into diagnostics and checked for any ECU errors but none are showing .I have also selected clear dash errors . The bike still starts and runs but if you rev it hard it comes back to a lower tick over and sometmes cuts out.All fuses are fine.I have disconnected the battery for a half hour to see if it would reset but no success.
Has anyone had this problem.Any help appreciated

Could be moisture in the clocks tracking across the pc board.Use the search facility,...there are a few threads on the subject.

Yeah at the same time the clocks were fogged badly on the bottom right side.I,ll strip the clocks and try and sort out the moisture problem and then take it from there.I'll keep you posted.

Stripped out clocks and opened them up.I cannot get the tacho needle off.I have tried to prise it off but it is very stubborn and i,m afraid of breaking it.I cannot get to see the circuit board because of this so I have used a hair dryer to blow hot air in and around the unit to dry out any moisture that might be there.i have connected clock back to the bike but problem is as before.When re-connect the battery i get the message APMT 0025 on the screen.is this normal.I have attached some pictures.

I,ve used this procedure up to where you remove the needle with 2 table knives,but i,m putting so much pressure on the needle i,m afraid i will break it or maybe damage the internals.if that happens the clocks are knackered.

I have checked all the wiring connectors that i can see on the wiring loom.All are clean and in good condition,even the brown connector is perfect .Bike has only 5500 miles.Anyway I am still getting the same errors on the dash as before.The only thing that i noticed is if i remove either of the 2 lower headlamp plugs the high beam dash indicator goes out.I,m wondering if it is a ECU problem.

If it was the ECU you would expect to find the fault code(s).Personally,I think the fault is a dodgy connection or component somewhere,.....either in the clocks or the wiring loom.
The high beam light is staying on,....have you checked the headlight relays?
Are the indicators and brake light working now?
How good is your battery,....what is the voltage at the terminals?

Sorry for late reply.Think i,ve found the problem.After re checking all wiring i found a ground connection on the engine that was not completely tight.Its just behind the frame looking in from the right side.There are 2 wires at this connection,1 blue and a heavier black cable going back into the loom.I,ve cleaned the terminals and tighened up good and proper.Had the bike for a spin today and so far no issues.Many thanks for the help

:thumbupNice one Smurf.Those V twin vibes are great for unscrewing bolts.I'm always going around the bike with the spanners.

I joined this forum because I had the problem with the dash error with the light bulb with the "X" through it and the arrows on both sides. I looked at all the different fixes you guys found and none of them worked. I did, however, come up with a fix on my own and thought I should point it out.

I was converting my front fairing and light assembly back to OEM stuff because the previous owner wrecked it and bought a cheap crappy replacement. I gradually collected all the OEM parts when I could find them cheap. The only thing I deviated from OEM was the blinkers because I thought I could find some sweet LED ones for cheaper than the Aprilia ones. This was the part that screwed me. With the LED blinkers wired up, the blinkers blinked super fast and the light bulb dash error came up. I figured out this is because the bike was expecting more resistance from the bulbs (like an incandescent). I threw a 570 k-ohm resistor in series with the LED lights and all the errors cleared.

Just thought I would post another solution to the dash error that I haven't found mentioned anywhere else. I have a 2008 Tuono FYI.
