I did see this one on ebay last week but it had been sold within a few hours so I missed out;

Aprilia RSV Mille 1000R | eBay

It comes down to what someones prepared to pay I suppose, supply and demand generally governs the price,
John.

Cash is king, speed as well. Having said a few scammed are advertising cheap rsv4 for rsv prices. Hours later the add completely disappears on ebay. Was it hacked account ? Did anyone get ripped off ?

I'm thinking of selling mine. Just started looking around this morning. 2002 Model, I've had it since 2010. Low mileage 19K, MOT'd, kept dry in garage. I'm based in Chippenham in Wilts. Let me know your thoughts. View attachment 7009

I travelled up to Hull to collect and it was well worth the trip (155 miles) even though I had to call out the recovery people before I made it home! Turned out just to be a knackered battery, so got a Yuasa one on order - Found out that RSV's do not bump start, not even in second or third gear! It started on the jumped leads first go and rode it the rest of the way home (40 miles).
First impressions are great bike, sweet engine, handles well, quality suspension and excellent brakes, hard to believe that the one I have is 17 year's old, looking forward to doing more miles after not riding a bike for about 14 years,
John.

Glad you got home , eventually.....its a big old bike to bump, and high compression engine as well.

Is it just the battery, or the dreaded u/s electric charging system ?

Battery

I'm fairly sure it's just the battery, chap who came out to fix it had previously owned an RVS R version and new all about them - He checked the charging after he got it going and it was showing over 13V from the charging system. Battery was showing 12.2V on the LCD but it dropped like a stone as soon as the start button was pressed, chap reckoned it must have a couple of knackered cells, the battery looked old although looking through the receipts it is only a couple of years old but only cost £26.50 so I suspect that is the only problem,
John.

Twin exhausts on a 2000 rsvr is rather special (on the sp had twin exhausts from aprilia) akropovic and smalt do very expending twin exhausts.
Pictures, take off the lower panel and let's see what you have !

There is a very old bill in the file for Harris Corser pipes, plus a PC3 and a dyno printout showing just over 120 bhp at the rear wheel but they are obviously not on it now, I'll have to open up the ECU and check the Eeprom chip - It's been secured in place with a couple of cable ties.
It pulls very cleanly and smoothly so I'm sure it's got some kind of chip, probably with custom map,
John.

There's a youtube clip on harris corser if you Google. ...

The down pipes must still be there, the rsvr was always 2 into 1, if they are titanium you are on a winner, they have been 2nd hand sold for £500,
And some titanium pipes cost £3k new !

Glad you bought an rsvr ?

Definitely, I am really impressed with the way it rides and the quality of the components, this one's is a keeper - I think I prefer the design of this one compared to the 2001 on aesthetically, I like the gloss black paint more than the matt finish of the newer bike. I'll take another look at the exhausts tonight and see what I can find - I must admit I prefer the look of the two pipes, one either side, to the two into one with the single can,
John.

One thing that aprilia did on the 98-03 is they moved the whole engine 20mm to the left to counter the weight of the big stainless silencer used on the early bikes, all post 03 bikes (gen2) had twin pipes and the engine was centred in the frame !

I weighed the OE Silencer and it weighs 14kg, the akropovic aftermarket silencer weighs a couple of kg !

There are different types of aftermarket pipe system some 2 into 2 , some 2 into 1 into 2 , it will be interesting to see which you have (pictures please)

Gabro does aftermarket chips that are better than a power comander add on.....

Gabro's IGen Tuning Kit (collector mod + airkit): almost ready

The dip in power 4k to 6k rpm is a lot to do with the design of the engine and EU noise restrictions and can mostly be got rid of by a gabro chip. a ( the ignition is ******** to reduce noise on the factory chips)

Wow that's interesting, I didn't realise thay had done that, mines probably lop sided weight wise now then! I'll have to look at the exhaust at the weekend cause I can only get to one side at the moment and I'm off out for a pool match tonight - I think the PC3 has been taken off as it's not under the seat. Know what u mean about the power dip, most stock bikes have that same characteristic to comply with the regs, which is why I'm sure that this one must already be chipped - The fellow who fitted the cans left some notes to say it had been mapped to suit but no receipts found,
John.

PS. I'll have to look at ways of trying to get rid of 10kg plus from the nearside of the bike to balance it out! LOL

That is very very nice, we will have to have a side to side picture of my puke yellow 2001 and your lovely black rsv, which year is it again ?

It has 530 chain which I believe is the heavy duty option, 525 is the standard OE chain size, you can also get 520 chain which is generally only used for race applications (I presume due to reduced power loss) that would wear much faster. Looked at the exhausts again last night and I think that they are stainless now, not titanium, 2 into 2 system, but will confirm once panels have been removed,
John.
PS. How are you recovering?
