I used my bike to work on Monday no problems but would not start for the drive home. I turned it over and had the starter stall fault (next on my list to address), from then on the bike turns over but will not start. I assume there is no spark, I was going to look for a spark but the fuel pipe connector snapped putting a stop to that today.

Are there any likely causes for this problem?

I have found there is a spark at the spark plugs. Also have tried the diagnostics function which does not give a fault code.

Can't remember hearing the pump prime but have removed the spark plugs and cleaned them off which were covered in fuel. Would buy new plugs if it wasn't boxing day and everywhere is closed.

Okay, How good is your battery ?, this things will eat sprag clutches if battery is not up to much. Sometimes a non starter is simply that the battery is too low to provide enough juice to power up the electronics and and injectors etc.

If the battery is very good and you trust the starter relay you can try a full throttle start.

The battery is 6 weeks old. On top of that I have been using jump leads connected to my car so the problem is not there.

Is it possible the starter solenoid has completely packed up?

Try this then.

No fast idle (as in leave it in the off position), wind on full throttle and hit the starter , if it fires you will need to get the throttle shut pretty quick but then you should be able to do a normal start. If you feel brave and it does want to start on full throttle try and hold it on the revs (you might need to blip the throttle to keep it running), it will blow all kinds of **** out the exhaust so try facing it away from something important.

Starting Frankie on full throttle usually results in flames out of the can .....

Will give it a go. Should I replace the starter solenoid first or will it not make any difference?

Thanks for all your help.

With my limited knowledge, If its turning over ok then the started solenoid is ok.
Please correct me if this is wrong.

Jeff

Full throttle start has done the trick. I guess it just flooded when the starter stalled.

From the Romford area. Will try to make the Tuesday night Dick Turpin A127 meets when the weather improves.

Better than the Turpin is the Sunday morning dinner meet, just before the Turpin! You tend to get some cocks at the DT ruining it for everyone
