Read about replacing the side stand. I on many occasions swing the bike round on side stand or tip over on it to spin back wheel. Thinking I should replace the stand to something a little more substantial. Anyone advise what fits ok?

Hi all, I have an 06 rsvr factory and as you guys will all know the side stand is very poor. I have heard of a fireblade stand modification that is apparently loads better. Can anyone shed more light on what parts are needed and how it's done please? Cheers Mark

I had a spare sidestand from my previous bike. A Honda VFR800 VTEC, so after reading about the common mod being for a fireblade or possibly blackbird sidestand i thought id give the vfr800 one a go. It cost me £12 off ebay. Here is the stand with its only mod, i drilled and tapped a 6mm hole...

The side stand switch looked corroded so I temporarily cut the wires and 'pigtailed' them together. The side stand light on the dash is out and the bike starts. I looked at the switch and the corrosion appeared to be on one of the soldered connections. So I cleaned it up and resoldered the cable...
