I've always suspected that my front end was not right, it always felt vague and behaved erratically mid corner.
Anyhow, this weekend I decided to do something about it. I ripped off all my fairings, removed my forks and set about stripping them down.

I am repairing some forks for somebody. The parts damaged are the washer at the top that goes between the spring and the preload plastic ring/grommet and a plastic grommet that goes on a metal tube further down inside the forkleg.
Anyway, they are on backorder with Ultimate parts, but Aprilia...
I have a set of showa forks with L E insides.one foerk needs a seal.200.dollars and titainum exhaustheaders everything but the cans.it has a dent on one side not bad at all. 130.dollars it is for daul side or trade air box mod I will post pics soon,If interested you can pm me. all the best...

Just stripped my first fork, changed the oil put it back together. Went to put the preload back to its original settings and it screws in way too far (past flush). Also fork doesnt seem to have and compression on the rebound.
Any ideas before I strip it again?
I know it sounds a bit sad...
I have got my Showa forks off the bike the at moment, and they are approx 3 months old. (bought new off ebay)
I am debating if to change the fork springs for a hyperpro kit, or prehaps send them away to be serviced.
Question is am I wasting my time and money and should leave them?

Planned to service my Showa forks this week end. I have taken the forks out but there seems to be a problem with the outers. On each leg there are patches of oxidisation. Should I be worried about this or is it common on these forks?:confused:dowhat
