Well curiosity got the better of me so I decided to carve up my speed sensor and this is what I found. (And yes the blood on my finger is real after nearly cutting it off) There was definately corrosion under the PCB.

Had my coolant temp sensor go faulty today, got the bosch number off it and matched it to a corsa c 1.2 petrol. Was quoted £40 from aprilia, got it for £9 in the end from a local motor factors. For anyone who is interested it was the blueish/grey sensor 2004 model. Bosch p/n 0280130093...
